Tonight I broke out the vacuum, vacuumed out the entire car, took out the back seat, rear carpet, even vacuumed up over the hatch rubber and in the bottom of the door pivot areas. lol, saw a wasp and I was like, whaaaat, so I tried to vacuum him up too, then I looked in the door jam area and saw a huge nest with 3-4 wasps and sucked them up and their nest full of babies Oh, and I eventually got the other wasp too! haha.

anyways, the car is decently clean and I got into the gas tank. Someone visited the gas tank years ago because the clamp to the hose was not in place but there was dirt everywhere and no tell-tale sign of anyone being in there in a long while. The screws had plenty of years of crud in them imo and had a few years of sitting. It has almost a full tank...what a pain. Definitely ticked about that. John, if you really want 7-8 gallons of old gas, you are MORE than welcome to it!

Think I'm gonna need a new gas tank? Or is something this bad salvageable?

Yes, Walth I do, do you have a container for that much liquid?

From the looks of that pump/sender I'd be looking for a replacement for it too.
Hopefully, there isn't much, if any water, in the tank and it can be cleaned out and put back in service.

when an admin tells you that you need to fix something it is not thread jacking. You need to rethink your next move.

hey, there's nothing more fun than to be submissive. post away. I told you I was sorry for not following the rules. And again, I was convinced I had edited my post, I checked a few hours ago and saw that I had in fact NOT edited my post.

I resized all pictures posted after you told me to do so, without question. I have done nothing else in violation of the rules of this site. In that regard, please take further discussion about screen settings, monitor upgrades, and all other opinions not related to my newly acquired problematic and neglected 93 GL festiva to the appropriate thread.

wow...don't know how to recover this awful thread. and what's with it saying my last post was in July? it was like october/november.

haven't had a whole lot of time to mess with the yellow festy. the gas tank was removed for cleaning a long while back and the process isn't complete. don't know that I'll ever use that gas tank as it sat for 5 years.

I've replaced pretty much all the fuses, including the main fuses in the engine bay, and I removed like 6+ fuses in the car that were blown. have no clue why...other than the fact that the previous moron was...well, a moron.

the starter I've gotta troubleshoot when I get time to make sure the solenoid is either bad or there's an issue elsewhere. with or without a charger/starter connected the starter doesn't do anything, no clicks, no buzzes, nothing that you'd expect, or really...NOTHING. nothing happens. and when you connect the starter/charger the taillights come on?!?!?! and when I take the charger off...they stay on. they stay on until I disconnect the negative battery cable. really odd.

I got a stock festiva column switch for it yesterday as right now I have in a 626 with cruise. but I doubt that's the issue.

just a minor update. thanks for looking

Sounds like some odd electrical shorts. The tail lights shouldn't be on any other circuit than the light switch for running lights and the brake switch for your brakes.

The other thing that tipped me off was the blown fuses. That's not normal to have 6 blown fuses. Usually when you overload the cigarette lighter or you short a bulb socket, you blow a fuse but its not 6 at a time. Then again, who knows what the 'moron' before you did!

I've got some faith in that gas tank. Clean it out as well as you can and get it installed! They're built for the long run, there's a screen and a filter to keep that junk out of your engine for a reason

Hope you the best in getting it all sorted out!

yeah, I'm pretty sure somehow this was a junk yard scrapped car. so I've literally saved one but how in the world it's legal in GA to resell a scrapped car idk. but pretty cool. it's rust free and straight as new from what I can tell. but they cut the exhaust on the downtube and pipe just like all the JY's here do.

as far as the gas tank, I've got the one from the 95 aspire that's at the PNS right now and it's almost 99.99995% mint inside. the only problem...it seems they removed it and tossed it and it landed on one corner and bent the corner tab 90' so I'll have to fix that to install it with that bolt hole correctly.

the electrical issues, idk. they wired in a toyota carolla ignition somehow. which is retarded from the get go. and somehow got it to work...? I'd like to get ahold of a complete new harness and rip out all the old one, pull the engine and tranny and clean them up and get them into the gray hoss I got from max and go from there. I think the first thing I'd do is tear down the engine and hit all the seals and HG, etc. those main seals I hear so many things about and I'm pretty sure mine in my DD 91 red has issues with cuz I go through oil like our government spends money.
