  • BP-Festivas' BP festiva :D

figured I would start one of these.

It all started when I bought a 1992 escort gt to drive during the winter to keep miles off of my 88 Ltd Crown Victoria. I ended up driving the egt for about a month before I had a tire blow out and It rolled. The day after the accident I knew what I wanted to do with the escort, so i started searching for a festiva It took about 5 months but I found one for 300 bucks and drove it home. Over the next few months I started swapping the BP into the festiva, I got the swap all done and driving in september of 09 by october the stock festiva trans gave up. So I parked it and started searching for a trans donor, I got lucky and found a wrecked capri Xr2 at the junk yard, and I snagged up the trans, half shaft, and flywheel. While I was test fitting the engine/trans I figured now would be a perfect time to freshen up the motor. So I tore the motor down, and It will be getting new bearings, new gaskets, new valve seals and a valve job, I already have new clevite main and rod bearings, still need a gasket set and thrust washer set pistons and rings. Mods will include 10:1 miata pistons, Exhintake cam swap, cut intake manifold and maybe larger injectors. As far as the festiva itself goes, I did an aspire swap up front, and removed the rear seat brackets,I plan on running 14" wheels, Not sure what style yet. I still need to make trans mounts, find a new trans cross member and weld in new metal on the radiator support. Once Im all done I may paint it, not sure what color but it will definitely be the 50$ rustoleum paint job.

Wow. The escort look scary after the accident. Glad your OK. Did escorts have automatic shoulder belts? The are annoying at first but they are good. You can never forget to wear them. It got me in the habit of always putting on the lap belt. Swap looks good.

Thanks, I will say for the month I had the swap up and running it was a blast. And the escort had automatic shoulder belts until 96, but I always wear mine regardless, doesn't matter whos vehicle I'm in. As far as the EGT wheels go, I sold those before I knew I could have used them.
