  • Wes's "Red Rocket" B6T build

Finally got to a point where I am motivated to do the swap. Not much progress so far, just mainly prep. I'll be paint the engine bay while everything is out of the car.

I have my buddy from 43 auto coming up today to lend a hand. Hopefully we will get the dash out, the new engine harness ran, and the mock up of the FMIC from a mercedes slk230. A question for you B6T guys...How did you retain your stock running light/headlight harness?

    Without further ado...pictures.

The way I did my wiring for my b6t and klze is I retained as much of the stock wiring as possible, like starter wires, headlights wires, all the wires for the gauges like oil sensor temp sensor etc, and on the b6t harness I used strictly engine sensor wires, basically the minimum needed to run the engine

        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

So you kept the original ecu plugged in? I wanted to strip down the harness and get rid of everything that i wouldn't need and simplfy the harness with basically just the headlights/running lilghts. Also the starter/alt/ oil pressure and trans sensors. I am keeping the e-series trans as of now.

Later the sohc protege 4WD/AWD setup will go in.

Intercooler fit nicely, no cutting of the bumper cover. The air flow to the intercooler could be better though. I may opt to cut up the rebar alittle but leave the cover intact.....ah i may cut the cover also and move the license plate. Who knows!

No the stock ecu connectors are un-used since the stock engine sensors are no longer being used, so the stock ecu connectors are just hanging under the dash out of the way

                        Okay. Gotcha.

A little more progress. Mated the trans/engine. Washed the engine bay down with degreaser to get ready to scuff and paint tomorrow.

sweet build ill be watching this...

once you get the harness appart and see where all the wires go youll see how much stuff you can take out... its very easy... there is only a few wires that you have to wonder about, like the day time running lights that go to the ecu... i still have to figgure out what the heck that goes to on my harness lol...
