Well after trying to start zombistiva which she did start and run for about 2 mins, the fuel filter got clogged. I took the fuel filter off and a leaf fell out of it. After taking the fuel filter off i desided to pull the pump aswell. The pump's sock needs cleaned but look at what came out of the tank:

Im not sure if thats dirt or minerals from the gas being in there for 10+ years but it is nasty. The smell is horrible! Anyways here are some more pics of the nasties!

So ya im going to clean the tank as best as I can. i have heard of some kind of acid that can be used to clean the tank but not sure what its called. Anyone have any ideas on what I could use to soak the inside of the tank to get it clean?

Would CLR work for cleaning the tank?

            Here's a link to a cleaning/sealing kit:

KBS Coatings features rust prevention products, gas tank sealer, clear coat paints, high temperature paints, and more.

            Another one:

Free Shipping - POR-15 Fuel Tank Repair Kits with qualifying orders of $109. Shop Fuel Tank Liner Kits at Summit Racing.

I googled "gas tank cleaning kit" and got multiple things, including other forums discussing tank rehab. I'd avoid muriatic acid, as it seems too environmentally dangerous to me. I'd stick with some kind of kit if I were you.

I've never done this or anything like it. May be worth checking out. Ask what experience others here have with cleaning Festiva/Aspire tanks.

Think I might just give my GF a horse condom and a green scothbrite pad and let her go to town. Seems like a cheap and easy way to get it clean.

my suggestion is to get a gallon of undiluted acetone (nail polish on steroids) and swish that bugger around till she's clean as a whistle...

Well no recent updates. been to busy trying to keep my impreza running and working alot. i have a BP and aspire swap lined up for later this month. My festiva does run and move but needs interior, windshield, and radiator. Im going to go ahead and get a Bp engine for later but go ahead and aspire swap it so I can throw my momo's on it. I plan to park the impreza this summer and drive my festiva. We will see what happens from now till then.

WV is loaded with escorts. Shadetree is hooking me up this time on a deal of the year!!!

My plan is to get my festiva going so I can park my impreza and do a EJ22T swap during the summer. I have my eclipse for financial backing for either car. If I need parts I will sell it!

Once my impreza is done I should have the BP moderatly built and ready to drop in the festiva next winter.
