Got the hitch installed today. Had to modifying a little more, but over all not to hard. The front most passenger mounting tab wasn't able to go into proper position due to the exhaust hanger in the way.

        Passenger side issue

To solve the issue of fasteners, I thought it would be much easier to bolt through the frame rail than from inside. I used a small 90 bracket and welded it to the existing rearward tabs.

        Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Then using the good ol' torch I heated and bent the forward tabs back flat. I then had to drill holes all the way through the frame rails and bolt them in place.

Almost forgot, I had to clearance the spare tire well slightly to clear the reciver. Used a big hammer.

Logical place to cut it. Plus a spare gas tank! And an extra 12" spare, and a locking hatch for easy access. Great idea.

What do you think the weight of the trailer will be?

Not sure. It's really quite light before adding all the steel. I would guess somewhere in the 300-450 range.

get two tanks and replace your leaky tanks and make the trailer a future mod project for the 2nd tank idea.... my question is how to make a quick disconnect from the trailer line to the Festy? the thought of Air compressor quick disconnect fittings comes into play and flex fuel line? any ideas how you could make it work for a future mod, you did say you were on a time deadline, but there is no time like the present to plan the future of this build.....

I really have no desire to try it out. In theory it sounds good, but when you break it down to the technical aspect, would it be worth it? You would have to use a sealed check valvebof somesort to keep the vapors of the main tank sealed. Send good amount of power back to the trailer, but just hope a wire doesn't chafe or the flexible fuel line leak or get pinched. It could be a rolling attached bomb.

I got the tongue welded on tonight and started mocking up the front wall. I got an amazing hook up from a friend on an improperly cut brand-new semi trailer door. He brought me about 3/4 of it and its almost perfect. Just a little cutting and its time to screw it in.

It would work fine, big trucks have high pressure hydraulic lines going to trailers all the time, the disconnect could be a flair fitting with valves on each side. You'd use braided fuel line for it anyway, that would prevent the chafing.

The one thing would be to make sure you use the car's tank first as your return fuel would go to the car's tank.

just thinkin you might want to streamline that front a bit, otherwise you'll be draging a large airbrake behind you. oh, and belly pan the bottom too.

Lower it as well, would help aero quite a lot. I don't think the minipig will weigh enough to drop the springs.

I had planes on outing heavy rate coil overs on it later down the road. I can always add a dome to the front to help streamline later down the road. The piggy is riding in the car with us, she only weighs around 15 lbs right now.
