  • Project N' Festation... ( the slowest build ever )

So this is the second time this car has been built... and if it stick around there will be at least two more builds out of it... anyways, here are some pics of my current build/progress.. Long story, short... my dad bought the car for me. We replaced a ton of parts, got it running as cheaply as possible. I drove the car for a while and moved back to florida. Well in doing so, I had to tow it. Sadly, someone ( no names mentioned, and no it wasn't me ) put the car in gear... needless to say, next thing I know I hear/see a boom... fast forward 4 months to yesterday...

    The start of tear down/inspection..

    Intake/carb removed..

Up on jack stands, wheels removed..

Awesome, someone had the bright idea of welding the exhaust and remove all flanges to bolt the exhaust together... so I had to cut out a section, where I am going to reinstall a cat and tack it on where it sleeves back together... You can also see some other points of progress and regression in this picture.

Removed the exhaust manifold... ( might of cursed a few times at a few of those bolts )

I think we found the problem houston...

    Exit stage left...

Then, I moved on to the other engine... to get things prepped for the swap...

So I decided to check the timing belt... and it was recently replaced but they cracked the cover and the oil pan has a leak as did the head gasket... LOL... that being said the timing belt area was uber filthy... (unfortunately someone had walked off with my camera at this point and time and was unable to take pics, only able to get pics of the reassembly/cleaned areas)

More to come... axles, oil pan/gasket and others soon...

Looks good! I can't wait... wait being the key word if this is really going to be the 'slowest build ever'... to see this project finished!

Bubble gum and a paper clip woulda fixed up the old engine, but you cleaned the new one up pretty noice from that angle, i'd just stick with it!

                      FAIL!!!!

                      '95 Cobra was a pushrod 5.0L, Cobra R was a 5.8L

Now, '96 was a different story... all aluminum DOHC 4.6L... but still only 265 HP...

He has a 95 Lincoln Mark 8 engine he is trying to get me to buy.. ( which is essentially a 96 Cobra ) anyways, you are correct sir on the 95 cobra... it is a 5.0 L ( 302 )and the "R" is a 5.8 L (351 )...
