my 1988 festy keeps flooding over and dumping gas into the carb and stalls out! i have to tap on it and hold it to the floor to get it to start again

smitty, I can't really help you out as I don't know much about our beloved festiva carbs. I lent my manuals to a friend in town for extensive rebuild of some components but I wonder if these have a float? you could check to see if there is a float setting and how far off it is. if it allows too much gas into the carb then it has to go somewhere and it'll go into the cylinder and flood and stall. like you are having.
but again, idk anything about our carbs (yet) and maybe that's your issue. Wish I could help moreComment

Check that the return line isnt blocked, next that the pump is actually doing the presure regulation as its suppose to. Do this before touching the carb.Comment
