  • My Z5stiva build thread

I'm starting this thread to finish this long project :thumbleft:

This is how it looks when I got this banger for more or less $420 bucks
Sorry I'm only using my mobile for pics.

It was only cranking and I was trying to start it so I can drive it back home. After several hours of attempt, I have it towed. After few days, I found the culprit, the fuel pump's hose inside the tank is leaking big time. So finally it fired up so I drove it, for a while the breaks were working. I was thankful that it didn't start when I got it otherwise, I won't be here to write this thread.

this is a partial stud conversion when I did the drums.

The I discovered roller painting from google so my wife and I sanded the whole car. I didn't know that red is one of the hard colors (black and yellow are hard too). After several coats (I can't remember) which taught me roller painting skills it's still not working so we stopped for a while. BTW I'm only using an oil based enamel manufactured here.

Finally, I decided to paint it with a classic color, sky blue.

    This is my first coat

    second coat, promising

    third coat (i'll take shots)

I'm now prepping the bumpers, converting rusts, and stripping lots of body filler
and I'd be repairing some rusty panels as well. I'll use rivets only.
This forum is very encouraging and inspiring. Whenever I'm loosing my enthusiasm, I just logged in here

Looking GREAT! I love seeing the four doors, I wish we'd gotten them here, especially the four door hatch in your sig! So was the Z5 offered as an option there, or did someone swap it in? I assume from your post that the motor was in there when you got the car, just curious if it came from the factory like that or was swapped before you bought it.
    No festiva for me ATM...

Thanks! I really wish we had many 2 doors here We only have few (AFAIK less than 5 only) original 2 door imports here and they're pricey. But some shops are converting from 4 to 2 though.

That would be great , only problem are the duty, taxes, and all. But since it's a swap there may be no duty and taxes at all . I'll check that with our tax bureau

Not stock to the Festiva, no, but it is the stock Z5 intake that is on the second Gen proteges, the 95-98? ones with the twin cam 1.5.

I'm not really sure but the guy who did it uses the same intake for all his z5 efi swaps. check it here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/639953...optima/page-10 mine is Z5DEK4.
Actually I found a z5 in ebay with a different intake

BTW I heard that there are 2 kinds of z5 that use different timing belts. Some said that my z5 is not a real dohc compared to b5.
But I'm already satisfied with its power though

                      Hello Jun,
I'm from the Philippines as well. What brand of paint did you use for your roller paint job?
