  • My 90LX rebuild and build thread

Well I looked at it closer today and it's gonna need some wiring work for sure, how much, i'm not positive yet. The damage, looks simple, the guy tried welding on a new part of the front clip, but welded it like crap, so def. gonna have to do some repairs on that. Oh, and I noticed today, it has power steering!! And it has the underseat tray!!

Wow. Super nice score. That car is pretty well loaded. That does look very fixable. The seller told me his dog chewed the wiring. Maybe needs a engine harness at worst. Then some tweaking and reassembly. Would be cool to find the front parts already in silver. We should compare # with my wife 90 LX to see how close they were built.

      LX#"s

If this game is open to all 90 LX cars, this is my entry.

An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

Ya, my first recommendation would be to replace the engine wiring harness. I was able to get a FULL car harness for $20 at a local junk yard. The engine harness does not take a long time to remove, so really worth it! I would hate to drive a car and something fails!

Other than that it looks like a great find! Can you tell a difference with power steering?

I'm so excited to work on it tomorrow! I'm gonna tear the front bumper off and fender to get a closer look at the front end, and I'll look at the build date tomorrow as well.

lol I really don't wanna sell anything off this car. Plus I can't believe how easy the seats slide back and forth! It's awesome. I have yet to do anything to this car cause I just moved into my first apartment and the car is at home...

Well I've got some good news! I have a friend in second year auto body school, he found out that he will be able to fix the car and paint it in school! Super excited. Anyway I have a question for you guys. I am going to use the engine harness out of my 93 sport. Both cars are EFI, both are automatic, so I know it will work, BUT the LX has power steering, and the sport does not, is there anything different on the harness for the power steering?

Not sure about the wiring, but I want to suggest adding 2001 Kia Rio strut mounts. It will greatly extend the life of your power steering.

Yes, upgrades will come after the car is finished and driveable.

Are the power steering rack assemblies known to be less robust than the aluminum or steel manual racks?
I was kind of hoping these power racks would be stronger. Plus 1 on the kia bearing plates, love mine!
