^ LOL Awesome, I just want to be sure exactly what I'm going to do before I start. So I need to decide if I want to just go with a new (OEM) turbo. Def gonna go through this T motor. Doesnt make sense to turbo the D motor its only got 60k. And if its not built for boost I'll trash it,and that would be dumb to do to a good engine. Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

from the sounds of it, a .5mm overbore may be where you should start with that block and then "0" deck it. that should put you in the 9.3:1 range. it'll run great off boost so you can keep your MPG and then the boost response once you get in it will be near instant (especially when Matt matches one of his with your build).Trees aren't kind to me...

I don't see that Charlie has had any trouble with the front suspension or steering components in Tweak.
Putting in a rear engine seems to be unneeded expense and complication to me (don't get me wrong, not hatin' here), and takes away the car's versatility for carrying stuff. Not to mention how changing the weight might affect handling in what was engineered to be a FWD chassis. I'd like to hear Charlie's feedback on how a Shogun handles, if he knows.
Since you have the bux, I would recommend that B6T with a G tranny, and spend some $$$ on the motor. Lots of aftermarket pieces available--header, CAI, then call Matt for internal work.Last edited by TominMO; 06-26-2013, 11:04 PM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Nothing wrong with a lil' more yank. Glad to see your making progress. Also, please keep the engine in the front of the car. If you think driving fast in a high HP FWD festiva is tricky, put all the weight in the back and try to drive it on the limit. Short wheelbase mid engine cars are very entertaining, but there is a reason that they only make up a very very small share of the market. They tend to be a bit touchy on the edge.
Ford had a strange way of addressing this on the mid/awd rs200. It's transmission was actually in the front of the car, to move the weight bias forward. That car was still known to be very hard to drive.
The Festiva control arms are really quite strong for the weight of the car, and they don't take direct torque loads from the engine, all they do is take shared (with the struts) lateral loads during cornering, and I have tested their strength under hard cornering quite a bit. Aspire arms are even stronger, but both are forged steel units. You might bend one in a wreck or something, but I highly doubt you'll break one. They will sheer the pivot bolt before breaking. the weakest link is that pathetic lower rad support, but it's easier to reinforce that area than it is to build a structure to hold the engine and rear suspension into the back of the car.
I'm not bashing on Mid/rear Festivas here, just stating the facts. I would love to build a SHOgun if I had the time. Awesome little car, but it will get walked by a front drive festiva with similar HP on a road coarse, I'd put money on it.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

^ Yes I have aborted the rear engine till I get this car done. I will build a 92 Festy with the Capri B6T/G5M-R & I'll be asking the mods to move this thread to the "Garage" section. Thanks for everyones input,I still have that 88 Carby but will save that for a different thread. Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

Hey Guys say Hello to Blaze,he used to belong to Titus my son. I traded him a Z24 for him. He will be getting the B6T FWD heart transplant. He's a bit rusty but trusty, the rust in the rear doesn't extend into the rear beam mounts so I shouldn't have much work in that respect. Floor has a little rust also, nothing I cant fix with some sheet metal & my welder. I have a new rear hatch, smoothies and misc parts to help spruce him up.I also have all the bits for COMPLETE Aspire Swap. Dark window tint is a must along with a rear wing.
Pulled the eng/tran last night(need the tranny for my Aspire). Gonna try to get those trannys swapped tonight. Tomorrow I'll be picking up the XR2(hopefully the brakes aren't to seized up) its been resting for 2yrs in that spot. My present goal is to do a complete swap,I want the cruise & delay wipers to work. I'm not going to have AC or PS,I'm thinking I should just swap the whole harness to facilitate the crusie & Wipers. Hmmmmm maybe that steering column has tilt? That would be cool also, but never heard of done so probably wont work? Time will tell.... FYI Disclaimer I have never worked on a DOHC engine, or Turbo for that matter. So this is gonna be new ground for me.I'm pretty anal and triple guess every thought that passes by my brain. Not to mention I'm slightly dyslexic and extremely hyperactive (but I've mellowed over the past 50 years). My Mom tried to get me to take Ritalin when I was 13 (but I kept spitting it out when she wasn't looking). She finally gave up one day in frustration and said I'm not paying for those pills anymore they don't work. So this is my Garage build start, hope to make a few more friends, and drive Blaze to Madness next year! PS if you are ever in WI let me know I'll meet up with you or you are welcome to stop in!
