You have a good point here. This is a race for $500 cars with ~$1300 race fees.

By the way you spend about $500 on gas alone to race for 14 hours... Lemons is still a good deal for road racing.

    • Yea, the $500.00 thing is kind of a myth...I guess intended more to keep the racing less serious than an actual price cap.

Realistically when I think of driving a true $500.00 car with no prep, no cage and no safety equipment in anger for 24 hrs...i get the chills

I would be all over it myself, but I understand I'm not completely normal.

To me dropping ~$4k+ is pretty serious. IF it was more like $500 car + $200 entry fee and no fee for drivers and then the tech reqs were more sane like a helmet and nothing falling off the car I could see it as more what it seems to be advertised as. But not as it is now.

I mean even after you spend to build the car and get the safety gear you're talking ~$2k per event not including tires/oil/broken stuff/travel/etc. Just bare minimum ~$2k per event to run.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I suspect that you would not be enjoy racing for 9 hours straight. You should divide the ~$4k by four drivers on the team.
