Head gasket is going. I've seen a little oil in the coolant over the past month but couldn't bring myself to believe it was a big problem.

Today it heated up in minutes instead of miles and spewed baby poop out when I took off the rad cap. Looks like another head gasket job, although it's the first I've done on my own Festy. This go around I'll time myself haha.

Head gasket replacement went well. Been running 3 weeks now just fine. The transmission is leaking from, well I cant find anywhere else, the pan seal. Trying to decide what to do from here, whether I go 5 speed, replace the atx with another from bhazard, or do a seafoam flush with type F and replace the filter/pan seal.

Recently heard these F3A transmissions like Type F better and I've been running Dex III/IV. Not compatible fluid types so it would be an ideal time to switch.

Got some new plug and play LEDs. Been toying with these for YEARS now, and finally I found an incandescent comparable emitter.

[SMD - surface mounted diode. CREE - reputable manufacturer of LEDs]

Old SMD tower on the left, new CREE emitter on the right.

Before (SMD Towers ~300 lumens each)

                      Difference (CREE Left SMD Right)

After (CREE Emitters ~500 lumens each)

Brad is into those LEDs too, he used some to troubleshoot a wiring issue in my Festy at Ohiosteva. Never get.around to finding some for myself, they do look pretty good.

I'm excited to see what they look like at night, but usually the downfall of LEDs is their daytime performance. Gladly, these things are bright, even in direct sunlight.

                            Man are they bright..

                            Even Cooby was impressed!

Compared to my running lights (Something in my wiring disabled the sockets of the new bulbs. My running lights are only the two 194 size LED replacements in each bottom corner)

Dude I had the same problem.... its something to do with the bulbs. Both the festy and mx6 take those 1157's. If the brake circuit is even just hooked up (not even on) the tail circuit won't work at all. I have two pairs of 1157 cree knockoff projector LEDs that I'm not even using because of that.

My transmission's been leaking like a sieve lately, shifting weird and slipping. I've been keeping the ATF level up, but that was getting annoying and expensive. After training myself to park in the street wherever I go, I finally took a minute to figure out the transmission pan was leaking.

Last night before midnight, I caught my second wind and took off for Meijer. There, I poured in half a fresh can of Seafoam Trans Tune and drove about 35 miles.

Today, after going for a short trip to breakfast and the JY, I drained the trans, dropped the pan and replaced the filter. Well, it's more of a screen.. Anyways, the old one did catch a bit of aluminum shavings and strings of grey sealant excess.

The magnet was packed to the gills.

Filled with Type F fluid per recommendations here, along with the rest of the can of Trans Tune. After getting it to temp with a jaunt around the block, used the dipstick to top off the fluid. Shifts are still unpredictable and engaging a gear is kind of weak, but its getting better.

While I was underneath, I could see how badly both of the trans mounts are shot. The transmission can hit the bottom of the fan housing, I'm thinking, when in reverse. Sucks that they're impossible to find new. I cut and rewelded a rear manual mount to fit the auto but that's already toast.

Well the new gasket is holding (knocks on wood).
