That really looks good.. do you remember off the top of your head what kind of paint you used on it? I want mine to turn out decent...I know it's going to take a couple tries before I can make something that nice tho.

how the hell did you get the festiva water pipe to fit the bp block with out modding it. are you using the stock water pump? i put my festiva pipe on my bp and i had to mod the elbow that goes to the o-ring'd pipe because it was hitting the block. it had 1/4" being able to fit like yours97 Montego Blue Miata

My aspire pipe fit on my Mazda BP fine, I test fitted it before I tore it down. I don't know what the difference is or which one to use yet.
I've been thinking about getting a pressure regualtor and the cheepo sandblaster from harbor freight, I need a good way to get stuff clean..dawn power dissolver works great, but a sandblaster would make it absolutely spotless I think..and a good surface to paint on.
Is it duplicolor high heat paint? I don't know how well it will hold up, and I've had bad experiences with painting lately.Last edited by zoom zoom; 04-17-2012, 01:34 PM.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

^ you need to have things degreased before blasting, otherwise you'll be pushing grease into pores of the metal and it'll be harder to remove and impossible to paint.
also you dont want to use sand... glass bead or walnut shells work better (prefer the shells as it's biodegradeable and it's not glass...)Trees aren't kind to me...
currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Pretty sure all my parts are already degreased, and clean. I've put in quite a bit of elbow grease on everything...EVERYTHING.. I just want to avoid the last couple paint experiences where it flakes off 2 days later, and a sandblaster would prep the surface for paint wouldn't it?
Sorry fresh, I'm not trying to steal your thread! So I digress..2008 Kia Rio- new beater

Updates:
Before I quit yesterday I trimmed and glued in the timing belt dust cover gasket. Those darn things !! It held long enough to get the cover bolted on. Hopefully I wont have to take it back off to get the right side motor mount to work.
Made a couple of brackets for the festiva water pipe. Its good and solid now. Plugged off the extra nipple. As you can see in the second pic of the bracket I also got the festiva fuel injection harness installed too. ( see it ? ) Also note the oxygen sensor hole in on the wrong side of the header.
Got the 1993 Festiva pulleys on.
Got the VICs and PRC plugs ready to go
Difference between the EGT and the 1993 Festiva pulleys.
Tomorrow I’ll try to get the mid shaft worked out. It doesn’t quite turn to plump so I guess I’ll have to weld a piece on that will be angled enough to bring it to plumb. Anyone else experience this ? After that I guess Im ready to lower it in to the engine bay and fashion some mounts. Been at it a week now.

Have to stop for awhile, got behind working on the car. I'll be back. I think the next step is to ream out the bolt holes on the upper festiva mount, I need about 1/4" more for the mount to align with the mount bracket on the car.
