They say the first step is the hardest, although I doubt that’s the case, but here I go. I’ve put it off long enough and the coming week’s weather looks cool with good chances of rain Thursday through Sunday. I’ve delayed this for a couple of years hoping to find another good shell but I’ve given up. The supply seems to have dried up around here. I hate using Redford ( which I drove up to the chain hoist ) but Ive got too many cars anyway. Redford is sound, leaks nothing, and has hundreds of dollars of new parts in it. The only problem with it was that I put an ebay head on it once when I had a HLA ticking. I should have replaced the HLA instead of the whole head. The car runs great but will smoke on start up if it hasn’t been ran in awhile. Probably valve guides. Anyway, I’m starting today. Any advise, suggestions, helpful hints would be appreciated. I’m not a mechanic and I’d hate to start this project and not be able to finish it. That would be the worst case scenario IMO. I’m going to call this project Fantastiva. Meaning: Fantasy Festiva. Probably not everyone’s fantasy anymore but at one time a BP with Tranny swap would have been cutting edge. I’m not building a dragster, road racer, etc. ( not smart enough for that ) just a nice clean modified festy. I’ve been inspired by some of the nice clean builds I’ve seen lately so hopefully I can take my time with this one and do a good clean build. I’ve got most of the parts I need( I think) including a complete EGT so hopefully with your help I’ll get through this. Wish me luck!

If you're not going to beat on it and just want a reliable DD with some power it would be much easier to build sticking with the stock trans and a decent clutch. But since you have the whole EGT you've got everything you need for a trans swap with a little bit of fab work. Can't wait to see this project progress! No festiva for me ATM...

FWIW, I've been running around almost 2 years on a E-series trans and a SPEC Stg. 2 clutch with my BP. The only reason I'm going G Series is the turbo set up. If you're not going to be smashing gears and doing high school kid burnouts, I'd stick with the E Series1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

2016 Focus ST: daily driven go-kart

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a BP swap will not work with the pristine candy stripe interior. Since I'm such a nice guy, I will gladly swap you my well-worn standard "L" interior (at no extra charge to you, and with free delivery). LOL
Good luck with your swap! You'll do just fine. I would love to have a have a nice big, clean shop like yours!Brian

Came in for a late lunch after pulling the B3. All the fluids were pristine . This will be the first engine swap since I bought a pressure washer and fluid for my parts cleaner. Everything came out fine even the LCA bolts. I imagine the EGT engine pull will be more difficult.

Anyone know of a thread with a similar (swap BP with the G25M-R) that I could use for reference ? I searched some but didnt find anything useful. I was counting on using Maxtivas thread but most of his pictures are gone now. If not Ill keep searching, thanks.sigpic

Well i've done a BP swap myself so i could probably answer some of your questions easily enough
You do know the EGT trans is hydro clutch right? and that the capri int. shaft hanger bearing bracket is not a direct bolt up to the BP as well right? the bolt holes are roughly 1 inch offset, i believe it was due to the wider wheel base from the EGT chassis, best bet is to do a "mock-up" while the engine/trans is out of the car
Either way i'm sure you'll do a great job on the swap :thumbright:
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
