If it's what I think it is, you need a set of the special fuel/AC line removal tools. You can buy them at any McParts store....just get the best quality ones. The cheap-o ones are worthless. Or, you can just cut the line with a knife for now.

Here is a pic of the fuel line. There is like a safety wire attached to the clip and a clamp. Ill just cut it if I dont need it. The hose doesnt want to pull off even after I remove the clamp.

Ya, I think you just need the special disconnect tools like for A/C & EFI fuel filters and stuff. You can get a pretty fair set for $20 to $30 at most auto parts stores. The safety clip is a good idea to keep.Last edited by blkfordsedan; 04-12-2012, 01:30 PM.Brian

Thats what I do on all mine .
The motor is swinging finally, too much stuff in the escorts engine bay. What else do I need off of the escort ? Shifter, ECU, hydraulic clutch stuff, mounts ?? I noticed the speedo cable/tranny connection is different from the festivas too.
Im off to put the front end back into the escort so I'll at least have a roller I can move around as needed.sigpic

Fresh I'm sure you will pull this off in grand style!!!
If there is anything I can help with just let me know. On mine to keep it simple I used everything b3 that I could. Water outlet from the pump, water pipe that crosses the front of the block, thermostat housing everything. This allowed the stock radiator and hoses to work. Even here in Florida summer heat with ac I haven't had any overheating issues. I also used all of the b3 ac (factory air 90 lx) pieces. All my pics in my thread are still there but there's way more in my photobucket. I'll dig whatever ones you need up.
And if you want I have some material left for my spacers that I made to be able to use the b3 mount on the pass side. And the same spacers work for the ac tensioner to keep air.
Redford is gonna be sweeeeeet. I'm watching this one.-Greg

The following items will be needed from the donor car: engine, VAF, intake tube, distributor plug, idle6 “ back from the connections.
speed control plug, VICS plug. When you cut the plugs off the BP harness and
give yourself at least 6” of wire attached to them. Also cut the fuel line off about

Rounded up a festiva thermostat housing and cooling plumbing to install after I get the engine cleaned up. Also fabbed up a motor mount using the festiva mount and some spacers.
I fought the crank bolt for about an hour and a half, tried everything. I was sitting in a chair defeated when the wife came home. She asked what was the matter. I said I couldnt get the so and so crank bolt out. She went back into the house. Two minutes later I had if off. Below was the winning combination. Wish Id thought of it first. I was beginning to think it was left handed. If it was its right handed now. Also finally got the driver side axle stub out. Rough day !!

Fresh, since the bp does not have the little water outlet on the front of the head I cut that out of the water pipe and used a piece of heater hose and clamps-Greg
