  • My 1988 Ford Festiva LX

    Hello everybody.
I am starting a progress thread about my Festiva. I have a 1988 Ford Festiva LX 5 speed manual 2 door.
This thing is my only car.
I am a soon to be driver and I want this to be my car not some peice of junk Toyota Corolla.

    -History-
My dad bought this a while back and wrecked it. He replaced the front hood and the front panels while adding a huge spot light type lamp.
He then died and it was parked.
My mom "found" my step-dad and he drove it for a few months.
Then he parked it at our farm.
A few years later me and my friend decided to look at it.
we replaced the fuel pump and got it to run.
I kept tinkering with the electrical because it has problems - over time taking out the radio, the speakers, replaced the ground cable, replacing a couple fuses from the fusible linkage box, and screwing up the heater.
I also replaced the door because the other door's latch was broken.

    -Current Problems-
Right now it has some issues, well quiet a few.
The rear hatch has a jammed latch
The driver's door is not fully functional
Has some kind of electrical issue
Interior needs a lot of work
    Needs new paint job
    Missing a lot of screws

    ---
I might soon move it to my neighbor's house (near my house) so I can do work on it and do some customization.
I only have access to it when I go to the farm.
    ---
I like this car and I have big plans -
-- Photos coming soon (the current photo is my favorite!) ---
    Thanks for viewing

Thanks - I'm not sure about that, I will check when I go there tommorow.
I will take photos of it and upload them soon.
Those dents have been repaired - This is the only good photo I have of it even though it is old.

                            IT LIVES!!!!

So over the weekend wile I was working with it, my friend gave me a multi-meter. I decided to check the coil to see it it was the problem - I was removing the cover for the positive side of the coil and I hear some noise. I checked in the car (we had the charger on the battery) and I saw all the lights on (the dashboard lights). Th reason they were on was because earlier we were trying to pull start it and we forgot the key on in the ignition. I was surprised!
I am happy now that it runs...
Now I will go buy some new cables that run from the distributor.
Also I am talking my step-dad into buying me a new alternator wile we are at our local NAPA store.

I will upload photos when I get home later today...

                            I am so excited now!!!
