  • 1989 Festiva L Build

Thought I'd start up a thread for my new festy, haven't really done anything to it yet. I'll have some progress this weekend though!

Air cleaner cover was ripped out in the center But I had a good one in my parts stash, wing nut was gone also.

This will get taken care of this weekend!

Going to do the LCA's and swaybar bushing this weekend

She looks good and solid where most I've seen rot away..

Also I don't believe this is the original engine to the car.. has a pulley for AC on it but this car never had AC so that makes me think someone swapped engines at some point. At least thats my thoughts on it, don't see why someone would put a extra pulley on just because..

Carbie Alliance!! lol Looks good. The center of my air cleaner is also wore bigger. The rubber piece under the wingnut keeps it sealed though. Can't wait to see what happens with yours!

Nice lookin car! There's something about the black ones that I really like, the old black paint gives it a certain look I can't describe, that makes it look better than any other color. Yellow is cool too.

The crossmember bushings all have those little dimples on the side, they're made like that. If you take the bolts out dont forget the pbblaster, I snapped the head off one and had to drop it out and put a thru and thru bolt on, after I cut a hole in the top of the frame rail to get the new nut on.

Thanks! Thats one of my favorite colors on one. And yep I knew they where made like that, just took those pics to show how rust free it was there. All the others I've had were rusty there.

Ha, all the cars I've ever had were rusty everywhere! It's kinda funny, Ohio has some of the most lax laws on cars, I've tagged and titled 3 without them being in the parking lot, or even running! but right across the bridge you have to have yearly inspections, and any holes bigger than a quarter won't pass inspection! I feel sorry for my WV friends sometimes lol.

                      Today's work.

Did some things after getting home from work today.. and got parts ordered which will be here for the weekend Stoked to start daily driving it!

                      New plugs/wires

Put my "Open" grill on.. Much better! All my festivas have had this grill on at some point in their life  I suppose it's my trademark. Definitely the best looking grill on a festiva IMO

Bringing these in to work tomorrow to start prepping for paint. My 93's old bumpers.

Also gonna get my shaved fuel door painted to match sometime, along with my spoiler.
