  • Eskimo's B3 swap

Alright, so I am doing a B3 swap for the member Eskimo, he doesn't post on here very often, but he is a very nice guy and he blew his head gasket on his motor. We came to agreement that I can swap his motor for him for one I had. I went through and told him to get a bunch of new parts for the motor so it should run for quite a while yet!

    Put in these new parts:
    Valve cover gasket
    timing belt
    water pump
    oil pan gasket
    thermostat
    plugs/wires/disty cap/rotor
and I'm sure there might be something I'm forgetting.

Do you guys know what this noise could be? Oh and is there a way to adjust the shifter linkage? It won't fully engange into park, but I never messed with it which is why I'm confused why it won't now.

Sounds like a stuck hla to me, if it is a 88 or 89 (iirc) it may have solid rockers and need a bit of adjusting. If not, I would let it run thru a few heat cycles and see if it breaks loos. You may consider running some Sea foam in the crank case to flush it, Just be sure not to drive it with that stuff in there only idle for 10-15 mins. Alot of guys don't like doing that as it thins the oil and could promote wear on the bearings.
