Have you installed an oil pressure gauge? Considering the amount of money you have tied up in the engine, And the fact that it is all new, I think it would be a good idea to have a gauge to monitor at start up. There's a 99% chance everything will be just fine, but even a $20 gauge will work, all you need is a British pipe adapter.Last edited by blkfordsedan; 02-10-2013, 11:38 AM.Brian

Yup already had it installed before I started this build. I have a wide band afr, oil pressure, vacuum, and volt meter, all the gauges my stock gauges don't have. Plus I put a t in the oil pressure port so I can run a pressure gauge and keep the light in the dash so if I'm not watching the pressure gauge the light in the dash comes on at extreme low pressure.

I did some research on it and a lot of people who run an electric pump end up wiring in a relay off the oil pressure switch and said works good and is extra safety if in an accident you don't end up pumping fuel every where cuz the ignition is still on.

That is a great idea, I always prime my oil filter and bleed the air out if it. then pull fuel pump fuse and crank for oil pressure every oil change on all of my vehicles. I like the oil sending unit relay idea. Sounds like something I would come with! Great idea I am going to implement. Nothing like running an engine for 2-3 seconds with out op each oil change. For the duration of 30 oil changes that's at least a full minute that engine has ran without oil pressure at 90,000 miles providing 3k lofs. Think about it.Tim

I fill the filters with oil but do not worry about the oil pressure thing, Rings or a head gasket will get your engine first. Good idea for sbc, sbf and such where a bearing might be what gets you.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig
