    • Here is a video with the camera mounted on the back window near the exhaust. Guys tell me what you think, is it too loud? Is it too raspy? I kinda think its too loud... it echoes through the neighborhood.

      • Also gonna check into my loud valve noise, talked to matt and he is thinking maybe my lash adjusters cant handle the dual spring so maybe it is collapsing the lash adjuster and causing the loud ticking.

        • ihateyouihateyouihateyouihateyou. lol. JK Sounds awesome man! it does sound a bit loud but I think with a resonator on it will sound perfect.

          • I think it sounds great as is, but I don't mind loud exhausts myself as long as it doesn't sound annoying.

            • It's pretty loud! Sounds decent though. Maybe a bit raspy, but what do you expect out of a tiny 1.3L...is there really anything you can do to change the tone?

Edit: I know one thing...my girlfriend would hate it!

Looking at a flow master hp2 shorty for a resonator it's supposed to still give the nice low growl but take away the raspiness and quiet it down a little cuz seriously I love loud exhaust but I'm gonna get in trouble with this... It sounds like a race car ear piercing loud

                    • Dieselling is really bad because the engine is spinning backwards; damage may result. You might try octane booster, and use high octane gas.

Yeah I know it's bad. On carb engines it is because the idle jet will still feed fuel if air moves through the carb... So the fix is a idle jet solenoid that closes when you turn off the ignition. Zo I have one on its way plus I'm running ngk plugs and Matt said I need to run platinum and that may help a little with the dieseling because the ngk strap gets so hot they can cause some dieseling

And I did put high octane in but it was already half full of regular so could also be adding to it

I kinda wondered how the stock valvetrain would handle dual springs. I was concerned about the retainers, but never thought about the HLAs. You may need to have Matt make you some custom roller followers with solid lash adjusters. Are you using shims under the HLAs or just longer valves? Maybe the shims are effecting the oil feed supply to the HLAs? Did you install new HLAs? Did they ever pump up at all? are the rocker shafts firmly seated in the cam tower saddles? All it takes is a small piece of crap under the shaft or a stripped out bolt hole...if the shaft isnt down solid and tight it wont have a good pressure seal and the HLAs wont pump up. In all reality, the HLAs are kind of a PITA. I would rather have a mechanical adjuster.

On the plugs, I've had issues with platinum thin wire electrodes. The thin wire doesnt have enough surface area to dissipate the heat and gets hot (I.e. need for Platinum). It becomes a hot spot and causes spark knock. I would probably try some cheap Autolite coppers first, but Im so cheap I'll squeeze a wooden nickel until the buffalo farts.
