  • Mazda 121, being built in Perth.

Sooooo the story starts with a humble BPT found in an auction lot...

the motor cost $50, the tow back to the workshop $70

So the hunt was on for a vehicle... $600 later I had this. Fully registered. Bum CV, scratched windscreen, missing a mirror...

Came with a free boat anchor, that has got me to work reliably for the last 8 months

Made some half assed attempts at making it legal.. got a mirror

Grabbed some wheels and exhaust that will never fit (decided to do aspire conversion)

Grabbed a whole bunch of bits from previous builds

Painted the black bits, and painted the 12" wheels black

    Got myself a g-series

Stripped the rear interior and got myself the aspire bits

Grabbed a dardy bonnet off a member here and some suspension bits... also got a stinger ems aftermarket ecu.

With that ecu, clutch, ems, and t28 turbo it should be good to run 18psi on pump fuel...

Oh and I found some coilovers on yahoo japan...

    off to a good start?

Very nice start!! I'm jealous of the 121

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Me either! If we did get some I'm sure they would be very hard to find. I don't think we got many.

It's a 1.3 carby model so it'll be slightly trickier to wire in and fuel, plus getting the mounts organised.

Goes pretty good with the 1.3L, I advanced the timing until it pings in fourth gear going up hills which is pretty bad long term... but that gave it a bit of oomph in the lower gears

The ecu has a built in 20psi map sensor and a base map for 550cc injectors (rx7?). You can wire in a higher psi map sensor but that would be a bit too tricky to set up on an old ECU so i'll keep the boost 'low'. Best part is no crappy air flow meter!!!

Oh some pics of my previous torque steer monster. BPT 3" exhaust, front mount, 14psi. Probably around 200hp?

Would like to go for about 50% more power this time, in a chassis weighing a fair bit less
