89 Festiva ran then just died NO SPARK

I am new here, live near Clarksburg WV car was running good then died suddenly. Replaced fuel filter. Im getting fuel to the carb, also
replaced coil, and ICM still no spark, to the plugs. I read several posts about members replacing the entire distributor so the engine will
run again.I am Getting 12 volts on both POS and NEG terminals of the coil. Anyone else in the same situation?

that's a sign that the ICM is faulty... i've had others replace bad ones with NEW bad ones.... take the ICM out, make sure your pickup coil is still good, and tell your parts guy you need a good one.... one that's been tested properly before you take hold of it.

Thanks for the Good advice. Parts store only carries entire distributor no parts for it. NEW ICM did not work. Must have bad pick up.
No one around here knows how to check one out???

if they only carry the entire dizzy, get it. from the sound of it, you're running out of local options... i know how to test, but i'm no where near you and McAuto Parts stores employees are usually clueless anyway.

I had the same problem in my 89 it turned out the main relay wires had corrosion in them. I cut the bad part out and spliced the wires bavl together with weather proof butt connectors. I had the same symptoms it sounds like you're having.
