    Partial lifter collapse can be caused by air getting into the oil at the suction side of the oil pump. Low oil pressure can also not pressure lifters properly.

    It might be better if you find something simple under the VC LOL !
    It's just one lifter clacking. I had both rails off the head, and it was not that easy keeping the little self pinching springs out of harm's way. I know it's got good oil pressure because it squirted me when I spun it over with the plugs out and VC off just to avoid a dry start. I'll know more when I recheck my work. I'm expecting to find a pair of pliers or a sponge left in there during the procedure, happens all the time ...

        Here's a trick to help keep the springs from getting pinched under rail shaft during install;

        use a small zip tie around the rocker shaft to hold the springs back away from the mounting pedestals. You can turn the zip tie so the ratchet part and the tail point down and rest against the side of the pedestal, which will hold everything out of the way. Once the rail is bolted down, just snip off the zip ties and your good. It works great and makes installing the rocker shafts effortless.

          I pulled #2 intake HLA and manually filled it with oil. All quiet now. Drove up the mountain to Top of The World and back. the loaded pull was good to seat the new rings. it was hard but I held to the 50mph speed limit all the way up. no leaks so officially, the blow by has been cured by simply pulling the engine and re-ringing and replacing every gasket and seal in the engine. Now I can start looking at max fuel economy. Before the ring job (RJ) I saw 24mpg as a max in the 800 miles I put on it. A new test is in order. Exhaust pipe is due tomorrow, muffler awaits.

          Oh. and "zip tie around the rocker shaft to hold the springs back ", good plan, only I'm much too frugal for such an extravagant use of materials. I just tightened the rocker shafts with my fingers and kept pushing the little devils out of trouble before finally hitting it with power tools. It's all good!
