I picked this up from a fellow member on wedensday, finally got it all cleaned out and sorted through everything, so I figured it was time for a build thread.



















today i hope to get the plugs pulled, turn it over by hand and make sure everything feels ok, put on a new distributior, valve cover, all the b3 pullys, and clean it up a bit

Whats your plans for engine harness ?

Was going to ask the same thing because im going to be picking up a carby next week and wondering what I'm going to do with it

I was hoping to run the factory ecu piggybacked to run motor stuff, and use the wiring allready in the car for the lights and such, but I really don't know, was hoping for some guidance here. Also was hoping to be able to use the factory fuel tank, since it has a return line, but i dont really know if it has an in tank pump.

can't use the 88 ECU or harness for the engine as both are for a carb and there's no provision for injectors and other sensors. the fuel tank can be used but you'll have to add an external high pressure pump. there's no way to add an internal pump to the factory pickup without some serious mods and you can't just slap in an EFI pickup to the carby tank, they don't match.

you need to integrate the EGT engine harness (the whole thing) into the festiva.

I have an aspire tank, so i may look into putting that in instead then. Are there provisions to power an in tank fuel pump, or is that something that needs to be added?

I was unclear, i meant run the EGT harness/ecu for the motor, retain the stock wiring for lights and all since its all still intact.

1) the aspire tank must be from a 2 door car, the 4 door unit will NOT fit. there are no provisions for an in-tank pump for the carb tank... all required hardware would have to be added.

it all sounds easy when you say it, but its a different story standing over a box of wiring harnes' Lol.

also, tank is from a 2 door. the fittings and such are pretty rough though. ill try to get a picture after work tomorrow.

does that mean i can use my feed/return lines that are allready there?

the hard lines, yes, the soft lines must be replaced with high pressure pieces.

The tank is from a 2 door and has the in tank pump in it. He also has the escort GT in tank pump. You may be able to put the escort GT pump in the aspire sending unit.

You will need to run a fuel pump harness but thats relatively simple. Key on: fuel pump on. The short piece of harness leading to the aspire sending unit is included in there somewhere.

I havent even began to sort through harness, just taking it one step at a time, feels like theres less to do that way. lol

the 15's seam to clear the front, may be a different story when theres a motor in there though
