Well, its been awhile since I have posted and figured why not start a thread with my current/future build.

Not much to post as of yet, but hope to make some progress this winter during my slow season at work.

    Started off with the brain.

Everything went together well... Except for one crucial mistake I found at the end. For those of you who have assembled a MS unit, you may laugh, but I definitely did not. Once I got to the last leg of the instructions, I was told to solder the U4 microprocessor into its socket. Well after looking for a few minutes, I realized that somehow at the beginning I managed to solder U4 into U7's socket. In the end, the U4 chip was destroyed trying to remove it from the PCB, but it was only a $3 mistake.

    Testing with the stimulator:

    Finished product:

As far as building a Megasquirt goes, it was a lot of fun and a good experience, but I think that in the future I will end up buying a pre-assembled unit.

Currently have a BP and g-series sitting in Xaero's garage, courtesy of Mr. Hazard.
I plan on building the engine and trans before next summer so hopefully I can find a shell and begin the implant!

Ok any special reason you went with the 2 & not the 3? Just wondering-

Just a small update, I haven't been on in awhile so I figured I'd post some pics.
Finally got Brads old engine from Donny's house, picked up a cheap picker and load leveler and got to work!
Tore everything apart, hopefully taking it into the shop this week to have everything machined. After that, all I need to do is buy some cool parts and a clean body.

To answer the question earlier about the MS2 or MS3, I decided to go with 2 just because of the price. MS3 didn't offer me anything extra worth the money so I stuck with the 2. Sorry about the late response. Haha

If I were you, I would go straight to the MS2. From what I'm aware the features of 1 are slightly outdated by the newer boards in 2 and 3. I think it also offers a better resolution as far as tuning tables are concerned.
