    Hahahaha! It's ALIVE!!!

Pretty cool to have all the electronics hooked up and have it fire to life!

Still have work to do. I need to finish the cooling system, exhaust and hydraulic clutch setup. I was thinking I could hopefully use the one in the Protege, but if that doesn't work out I read a post on using the whole assembly from a MX-3. I will see how it goes. And interior... could use a bit of a cleanup!

And a few things lying around that I am pondering putting on to this car... although they were meant for my next project...

And here is that Mitsubishi sensor I mentioned. Not sure what it does, but I don't think I need it. Went from the throttlebody to the valve cover. (No CEL!)

Look great so far. So what trans did you end up using again? Is it the protege trans?

Trying to make the Trans from the Protege work. It is apparently high geared and will be ideal for highway driving.

I've only got the one (I think..?) but that may have something to do with it not having a/c?

Well... think I have the radiator figured out. Doesn't help having that front transmission mount where it is, but I just managed to get it to fit!

Will have to make the radiator fan a blow through instead of a puller though. Tried to see if I could reuse the stock fan by reversing the voltage, but it doesn't move any air when the blades spin the other way. Any good recommendations for a cheap / junkyard pusher fan?

Also, anyone else running around without the bumper support beam attached? Thinking about modifying the front end similar to what Advance Dynamix did with his Festiva. Was thinking something simple like some angle iron attached to the top of the front end sway bar connector beam with some metal plates that line up and bolt to the bumper support beam holes.

              Will have some pictures later.

Slowly getting finished... had an issue with coolant pressure that led me to suspect the headgasket might be bad. When I bought the car the owner threw in a full gasket set so I decided I might as well pull the head and redo it properly. Used copper spray on the gaskets and redid the head and intake as well as replacing the valve seals. Not smoking much at all now so hopefully the valve seals were the biggest cause of all the carbon buildup. Didn't take a good picture of it but the cylinder walls looked really good with plenty of crosshatching easily visible.

Just getting the hydraulic clutch installed now. Trying to use the system of the Mazda Protege 323. More pictures to follow.

                    Thanks Charlie!

                    Here are some more updates:

Managed to install the Hydraulic clutch out of the Protege into the Festiva. This was an automatic car and I managed to get away with using all parts from the donor Protege! I was thinking about swapping over the brake cylinder, but I cheated and just used the reservoir instead.

The biggest pain is trying to get the bottom bolt for the clutch master cylinder into place without having to remove a bunch of stuff. I managed to drill the hole and the pound the bolt into place with a big ol' hammer and punch. Everything seems to be working and I am one step closer to being on the road.

Very nice. So that's a auto pedal set up you drilled a hole threw to attach the clutch pedal?

That's correct. The hole in the picture was incorrect (hence the green X) and I need to do another one a little further up. Barely enough room to get a drill in there but I managed!
