  • new build!

OK so some of you know that my current dd is getting pretty rusty underneath. With 300,000+ on the clock I started looking for a clean shell to swap all my parts and rebuilt b6d over to.
I came across one in Desoto mo. For 600. I Made the 2 and a half hour drive there and Home The car needed a radiator so I pulled the one from my dd and shaped it when I got there.
It ran pretty good but was really doggy on the way home. It also needed/needs all 4 wheel bearings. They screamed all the way home I thought I was gonna die. (Very loude).
Here's a shot of my current dd underside.

And here's one of the car.

when I got it home I found that it had a rats nest in the air box and that's why it was really doggy.
Also had the fuel pump jumper wired.
I swapped in a relay I had it it now runs with out the jumper.
More picks and details to come.
I think I may turn my car into a trailer or may plate it and use it as a hunting truck. Still undecided.

Looks pretty decent, congrats! Good luck on the swaps.

I vote hunting truck. Nothing better than using a small FWD car for what a 4x4 is usually needed for.

        Is this plug factory??
I've never owned a gl before so I thought I would ask.

The GLs I've seen in yards just had a normal lighter plug. o_o I'm assuming that's a non-smoker's addition.

I installed a lighted lighter from a Mazda 626. I believe every car should have one. You never know when you might have to start a fire.

Thanks guys it should be a good build.
I'm planning on swapping the b6d from my current car. Want boost but need mpg's lol.
I am trying to get over to the jy either today or tomorrow. There are no festivas but there is 1 aspire.
It's looking like it's going purple metallic.

Little update I want to try to fix my rotted and sun faded rear interior panels they were really bad. I had an extra set the was just as bad so I figured I would paint the extra one I had.
So I went to Walmart looking for some paint. I decided to get some rustolem stone paint.
It looks like the old trunk spackle paint.
I got gray with black and cream spackel.
I also got some gray X2 primer.

I sanded the bad spots with 180 grit then washed with soap and scrubbed with a red scotch bright (320 grit)
                      Here's be four prime.

sorry no primer picks I forgot.
                      Here's a close up

I'm posting from my phone so please bear with me!
But they turned out better than I ever thought they would.

Question, does it still scratch super easy like the panels in my car do now?
91 Festiva L "Erika" b3t swap on the way

Just got them done but they should not.
I sanded all the easy to scratch dead plastic.
Primed with plastic primer and painted I will let you know how it holds up. It has to be a thousand times better then the we're before.
