Silver Streak build thread, 93' GL

I have decided to resurrect My 1993 GL Festiva from a parts car.
Currently named Silver Streak, I plan on painting it silver and black.
In April, I plan on driving it down to North Carolina early to have a B6 put in during the spring NCStiva meet. First I have to get it road worthy to do that.
The photos below are from most recent to last spring.
These 2 photos I was checking & bleeding the brakes. I test drove it afterwards and I still had to pump the brakes to get it to stop. I believe it needs a master cylinder. I also think it needs a left front wheel bearing also. I will go to the JY and get an Aspire master cylinder when I get a chance. I read on here you can use an Aspire master cylinder. It also has a vibration in the steering wheel which could be bad tires. They are old. There is only a few rust spots that need attention, One little hole is on the frame near the rear axel mount. I will have my welder friend fix that and the hole under the passenger door, eventually. It's not serious.



This photo I had just put the wheels and fender on & it's sitting on all 4 wheels again after a few months on blocks.


This photo I was replacing the brain in the car. A battery had exploded in the car shortly after I purchased it & caused some damaged to the hood, radiator, and brain.


These photos were taken during the time I was using it as a parts car When the battery exploded in the engine bay, I decided to use it as a parts car then.



I will post more pics as I work on it. It will take some time as I am limited with funds.

Forget silver. That little bit of pigment chalking on the hood can be taken care of with a buff. Just take the blue fender in to a body shop and have them paint it red. Then, post a picture.

I drove 2 hours and 15 minutes today, found this in the junkyard. 57K miles on it, 22 years of dust on it.



Put it in the back of my car.



Brought it home, took some pics.















All that dust and debris!

Pulled the rocker cover off....




Muleskinner better hurry up and install this thing before it comes up missing

I'm on my way .... Nice pics and awesome engine! I can't wait to get over there and put the b6 in SS (Silver Streak)!

I still have work to do on SS yet. I got the Aspire master cylinder & brake booster the other day. I still have to put that in. I have just been busy with the new place G-dine and I will be moving into, in the spring. I was building a garage door on the out building there the past 2 days. I'll have pics of that and other things by next week.

Did you buy new booster and MC? IF so, take them back, you want the miata setup! Smaller space, more room to play with.

Here is a pic of the master cylinder & brake booster from the Aspire. I will be putting this on SS.

Also a pic of the garage I have been working on. I put in the garage doors on the right & there will be a set on the left too at a later date. Had to remove some walls on the inside & will reuse the lumber for other projects. The house is left of that picture. Still a lot of work to do. We will probably move to that property in the spring. There is a lot of work that needs to be done in the house also.

My back felt good yesterday evening so I attacked the master brake & booster & finally got it out. I put the Aspire one in and hooked it all up. It got dark so I will bleed the brakes another day!!

Bled the brakes today (Thursday). Brakes work great!

Next thing to do before the engine swap at scitzz place, a day or two before NCStiva, is to replace the rear struts. I have a friend of mine who is a pro at this (since he has done 3 other rear festiva struts). I'll supply and pay him for his time since I don't have a good place to replace the struts. It's just a mud pit where I'm at right now.

I noticed when I took SS for a test spin for the brakes, the tranny was slipping a bit. Checked the tranny fluid and it was a bit low. Hmmm?
