I managed to fabricate my side engine mount today. I have the engine sitting in the bay. Have a hole in the firewall. All my clearances are good. I removed my transmission in attempts to make mating the engine easier because we had a hard time pulling The bp at the yard without removing it. Saying that, I may have messed up the rear trans mount because it sees to just sit very loosely back there. I'm not sure if the engine is perfectly level. It looks decent. How much play do I have in the setup?

Today I decided to handle the problem of 17's not making it from lock to lock. The tires on the wheels right now are 225/45/17s and I made enough clearance for those to "fit", so once I get some 195/40/17s, I should have "plenty of room". The other day, I discovered that my rear fenders were coated in a good coat of bondo, so im going to cut the rear wheel arches up as high as possible, without cutting any of the structural bits that are in that are. I should be able to get a couple more inches of Low from doing this. I pulled the downpipe (since mine was cut up) and stock catback off of a escort gt. I decided to use this for my exhaust because the bend around the gas tank was very similar and save me tons of time if I would have tried to fabricate those bends myself. I cut some pieces out and got the whole thing welded up, and it fit pretty good. I have to finish some welds because it got dark, but ill take pictures when I finish it, probably tomorrow. It works and for 40 bucks, it makes the car go from RACECAR loud to acceptably loud.

So if anyone ever smashes their finger like I did, You want to heat up a paper clip red hot, then stick it through your fingernail. It is painelss and relieves tons of the pain from the swelling.

Anyway here are some updates.
I got my exhaust done, Welds are not pretty, but they work, no cat because that wasn't cost effective.

Then I went chopping the rear fenders. This first one is uncut, about a 3 fingerish gap and arch pretty even with the body line painted silver.

Then this is cut about 1.5-2in up, Gave me some more room get more low. Im going to have some sort of flare over the wheels since they are pretty offset so I wasn't too worried about making it perfect, I think it came out pretty good. I did do both sides and I did take off some of the bumper

Then while i was working on the back wells, I went ahead and took the wheels off and shaved some off of the strut so there was no rub. Once I had the right tires, I think i would have been OK but it was getting annoying how much the car had to try to move so I took care of it.
Then when I was done with All this stuff It wasnt that late in the day just yet so I decided to wire up the e30 light Got for FREEEE. I got the plugs for the lights at pickNpull so all I did was match match grounds, then connect the high beams and low beams correspondingly, which Just had to be thought about before doing because the high beam is a separate light.
with hi beams on:

I havent decided how Im going to do the corner lights(or not) and the grill. I might just round out the sides and make it fit all pretty like. Or maybe find an e30 grill and work with that. I think I'm nicknaming this the "Wannabimmer", I am gonna paint it a pretty BMW blue so I think its fitting.

Picked up 2 205/40/17s today for 60 bucks, they are like 8/32nds. I got a good deal, and I feel spoiled how much smaller they are. They are about an inch shorter than the crap 225/45/17 that came on the tires.
I decided to just go with the 205s over 195 because being able to buy used is saving me ~180 dollars. Plus after I use up this tread I'm probably going to go to 15s. I already know getting the 17s to look decent is going to sacrifice a lot of ride quality. I really just want to see it done half decent.

Summit sells QA1 springs that are about 40 each in 2.5 diameter. I have a set myself. I"m running 175 fronts, 120/125 rears. Don't remember if it's 120 or 125.Jerry

Got a whopping single coil over sleeve installed. Both of the rear bottom bolts on the shock are sized into the shock and then the nut welded to the bar broke off and was just spinning on both of them. After I got the shock off, I took about 10 minutes to get it are back up. It was a sever PITA. Was halfway through the second one then my daylight was gone.
I'm just using the springs that came with it because I don't have anything else right now.
