someone posted an add from my area and had a automatic vehicle with a b8 motor for 700. Is that something I should consider. I like the idea of more torque and if it's and easier swap than a bp.

That is better than a b3, but there are a few differences with the automatic wiring and ECM. If you plan to run Megasquirt then the auto may be better. You'll definitely want a g series transmission if you're going with a b8 or bp.

That was me. That car has a BP. Its a protege LX noted by the body color folding door mirrors. I had seen your mention of a BP in the original post. For the swap it would yield the BP engine, ECU, and air meters. Also mounts , wiring and other odds and end you might need for fabbing. Being its an automatic obviously you'd need to source the flywheel clutch with whatever trans you go with and Charlie mentioned the wiring difference. Once your done scrap the shell to recoup some money. Sounds like your leaning away from the heavy BP. If you're wanting a SOHC B8 a 90-94 Protege DX model would have that.

after having sometime to inspect the cage and looking at what I want to do with the car I'm realizing that I won't be able to use this platform they way I want too. Instead of scrapping her I'd like to give someone else that opportunity to have a decent shell and a few nice part for their own projects. Nearly any resonance offer would suffice. It a 90' she'll with 6 point cage, 2 plastic buggy seats, 2 5 point harnesses, strut tower brace, 2.5" full stainless cat back exhaust, high flow race cat, genie 4 into 1 long tuner headers, suspension engine 5 speed transmission all from a aspire motor has around 13000 on it not sure if it's usable. I have equipment to load it onto someone's trailer. If the car doesn't sell it get scraped or traders for other toys. I hate to see it go that route but, she just won't work for a 6'2" rally team.

Well I wouldnt say that really... I'm 6'3".

As for the harness. I recommend just spending the time... I finally have it done but it took me 1.5 years of putting it in, and taking it out, and there's still things i want to do with it. I dont have money for the MS system since it costs as much just to be in an event. One thing to definitely check before putting it up on market is the thickness of the tubing and any history behind it. It's easier to get a once legal SCCA prorally cage legalized than someones caged drift car w/o DOM tubing @ .095 thickness.

one other thing. The Main Hoop support bars have to be cut and re-done anyways to that car, you have to cross them. http://rally-america.com/info/2008_Rollcage.gif

What you could do with that, is bring them back a little and re-mount the racing seats as far back as you can, that what we did and it's not that uncomfortable. I wish I would've had the time to give it a minor tilt, but I've driven the car for a couple hours at a time without any issues. Sorry for spamming and you've likely made up your mind already, but it'd be really nice to be able to help each other out at rallies.

If you've completely made up your mind. Be sure to really watch specialstage like a hawk for those cheap 3-4k pre-built cars. That's what you'll want to start with.

I'm with him^^^. We aren't staring it in the face and seeing what you are, of course. But almost no car has the floor to ceiling height of a Festiva, so it seems like if you can't make this work you will have trouble with any other chassis, too. You can mount a seat on the floor and get huge height. I guess if the rear of the cage is too far forward that could be a problem. See if you can find another racer to look it over with you and get creative on the fit. Big guys manage to drive Spec Miata with some work on mounting the seats and redoing the floor, so you should have options.

There are a lot of Festiva owners who choose this car because it's comfortable for people over 6ft. I think your seat must be mounted to high or something.
