Thanks. I'll probably fit a shouldered bolt and some washers instead.

Nice work so far! That Festiva was lucky you came along. Definitely FOTM material. And as far as seats go, you can swap lots of different model Mazda seats onto the Festiva seat bottoms pretty easily. Mazda 323, protege, mx3 and Ford escort GT seats work from 1988-95.
If your a corner junky then you'll want some bolstered seats. These cars can hang some serious g's when setup properly and you'll find yourself holding on for dear life with one leg in the air for balance so you don't fall out of the seat. It's tiring. Lol
Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

Haha. Thanks for the heads up. I'm definitely a corner junkie, it's such a shame I didn't realize what these cars were capable of before I treated the other two I owned like Metros.

I'm happy to have found this site, and very, very happy to be able to read through your suspension builds. My build is going to slow down a little due to some other issues that are controlling my time right now, but I'll be on the lookout or some better bolstered seats in the meantime!

Soooo. Sunday I swapped in a new clutch kit, and swapped in a 5 speed while I was at it. Honestly prefer the four speed except for interstate driving, where the trade off is WELL worth it. But now the bad news...

Headed to work this morning, thought I smelled oil burning, then heard a little knock coming from the engine. This happened right next to a repair shop about 3 miles from the house so I pulled in, popped the hood and saw a lot of oil on the crank pulley and alternator. Checked the dipstick and barely showed a little present. Bought a few quarts off of the shop owner, topped her off, and tried to get her back home. When I pulled into my drive (big hill) it knocked pretty hard and I shut it down. Popped the hood and oil was EVERYWHERE. Looks like the front seal just blew out of the block and spewed the crankcase guts everywhere.

So now I HAVE to get her fixed ASAP. So looks like a lengthy motor swap is out of the question. Found a nice B3 that's not cheap, but will work if need be. Wish I could at least find something to swap in that's an easy drop in nearby, but it's not looking favorable...

Always check car-part.com for engine swaps. Mine was cheap, already out of the donor car, and they loaded it.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
