Today I bought 20' feet of 1" tubing from the steel store. That should have been way more than enough to make the 2 sections I needed for the transmission crossmembers.
By the end of the day, 17' feet of tubing was mutilated. Only one was cut well enough to pass my own OCD fueled inspection.

The pie cuts were done with my harbor freight grinder (w) cut off wheel. The angles needed aren't really 45's so it's free hand cutting with the hopes off leaving very little gap which makes a good fit for welding. Not sure what fancy tool a professional fabricator would use to do this. This definitely kicked my butt (and wallet) today.
Maybe heating with a torch and making the bends would have been better method...Idk..but I have to use the few tools I have.

So, I will have to wait till next Saturday to buy ____?____ more feet of tubing and hope that I make some better cuts and bends.

    The one that came out:

Fancy tool=chop saw, dress with belt sander. Cut off wheels get costly after awhile and they cover you in those itchy fiberglass hairs. I avoid using them if I can, lol.

Your car is coming along great. I wish I had seen your post sooner. I live in Paradise Valley, right next to Scottsdale. Hit me up if you come back down.

Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.
