Pic below shows the engine and gearbox as 1 unit. I had to lift this in and out of the engine bay approx 20 times to make mounts, clearance objects etc.

Engine and gearbox fully mounted. Im starting the fuel system now.

I had difficulty accessing the forum over the past 48hrs. It appears to be back to normal, whatever the issue was.

        Job list record:

        Engine/gearbox mounted 100%: Done 31.5.17
Gear selector bracket modification: Done 5.6.17
Gearstick mechanism and cables installed: Done 1.6.17
Mount stabilizer bar to suite: Done 21.6.17
Rebolt factory front subframe, modified: Done 21.6.17
Brake lines refitted in engine bay: Done 5.6.17

        Big job list:
ECU and wiring loom: In progress. (Factory ECU/loom being used, already sorted out), not yet fitted to car. Waint for fuel system to be installed.
Fuel system: In progress, not yet finished. Will be rear boot mount fuel tank with pump.
        Radiator setup: not started yet.
        Intercooler system: not started yet.
        Exhaust system: not started yet.
        Custom drive shafts: LAST.

This is approx 20 kilos of factory wiring loom from the volvo station wagon. I already finished dissecting it for just essential EFI components. Just to get the engine started.

As you can see, the Volvo V70 wagon is fully functional with features with more fuses than terminator 2.

          Only what counts:

In terms of installing the engine and gearbox and clearances in the engine bay, there was 2 options to decide from, each option had negatives and positives.

Option 1:NIL CHASSIS RAIL CUTTING: Shift whole engine to drivers side box rail. delete crank pully, this would mean no possible way to operate alternator. This allows plenty of room for engine and gearbox with no cutting to chassis rail for gearbox to clear Chassis.

Negative: Alternator has to be driven by the Exhuast CAM via a 6 rib pully, attached to it. Have to make mounts: Nil strong bolting points on head. Small belt system. Alot more time required to fit alternator system.

Option 2: Keep alternator system as normal, engine in normal position, minor cutting required to chassis rail passeneger side to clear gearbox. Much quicker outcome, and the option i chose.

Looks like you have been making incredibly fast progress, any idea when youll be able to fire it up?

*edit-(Didnt realize you were still posting updates, sorry :p)

Cant find the meme back but it goes something like:
Government: sorry were banning good lightbulbs because their bad for the environment.
Also government: excuse me while i drop some bombs

Cant believe how heavy the front and back bumpers are.

                          Front bar: 11kgs
                          Rear bar: 13kgs.

Im glad that i will be shaving off 20kgs+ from the car.

They are heavy! Did you weigh this volvo motor and transmission?

Im guessing 160-180kgs. The car is so light weight, i can push it with one arm. The power to weight will be nuts, in its standard form.

I would never, ever consider the 5cylinder engine if it were cast iron. Just great that its all aluminum. Saves a tonne of weight, thats why i chose it.
