  • Life Of My Festiva

    Hi Everyone!

This is the life of my 1993 WA Ford Festiva. So I'm currently 18 years old and I'll say I'm probably one if the youngest Festiva fans! I'm Australian so you won't need to be confused about the steering being on the right side. Without further ado lets start this story!

My 1993 Ford Festiva is a 5 speed B1, 3 door metallic green little car with a aftermarket exhaust.

Okay so it all started in November 2014 when my dad picked me up in his tilt tray truck "tow truck" with a salvageable car on the back. As he was in work uniform I didn't pick up that the little green thing on the back was infact my car. For the first couple of weeks of it sitting in my yard i hated it. I wanted to get rid of it so bad because i was 15 years old and all i wanted was a nice big sedan so i can drive all my friends around.

As a few months past i decided to clean the car up and start a list of repairs so i can get the car roadworthy and registered for so i can have a car to learn to drive in. Originally this car was going to be a "Learner car" and then selling it. So after cleaning it up and got my 3 pages of repairs written up dad and i decided to start with the cheaper repairs.

It took Dad and I around a year to get the festiva roadworthy approval and by the end of 2015 my car was registered and on the road.

After driving the car around for a while i still had "i wanna sell it because I don't like it" feeling. When i got my p1 license (if you want to know the license laws of Australia google it lol) when i got my p1 license in may 2016 i was on my own. Left do what i want with the car.

A few months past and i decided to change the car up a bit and give it character which i did. I added stickers, new exhaust, and new darkest legal tint because Australia is strict with mods and also added seat covers and other little things to make it feel more... me? I'm not sure i still have my doubts of about the car.

Yes i still have doubts because all my mates drive around in newer cars, nicer cars etc. And im left with a festiva. Sorry if that affends anyone.

About mid year of 2017 my Festiva took cosmetic look changes as i added roof racks, light bar, new shocks and brakes. Id explain all the mechanic changes but i didn't do much as dad always had a retired mechanic mate work on the car.

At this stage i know really like my car to the point where I'm saying I'm never selling it which i probably wont. Around November 2017 i was targeted by a unknown person and my car was damaged. Keyed and a panel kicked. This killed me as it cost too much to repair i decent to leave it.

Wow im almost at the end of this little guy's life with me. If you have read down to here i salute you i can be quite boring lol

A few weeks ago i decided to fix the severe paint fade on my bonnet (hood) after sanding my bonnet back a little and then clear coating it i decided to work on my paint work so i polished it up. Now it turns heads at the local car meets which are basically every night and everyone likes the look of it.

Lol I'm done thanks everyone for reading! Now enjoy some photos! Hopefully they are in order. First pic is hopefully the first photo of the car it has purple tint. If the images aren't in here i will post this to the Facebook group page with the images.

Hey, welcome to the forum! Thats a nice looking car you have. Too bad someone felt like they had to vandalize it... I had some people damage mine too, it sucked.
You've had the car 3 years-your just getting started! A festiva was my first car and im still currently daily driving it almost 11 years later. Its rusted out and i bought another festiva as replacement (drove it this summer) but not driving the new one this winter.

When I was your age (lol) everyone had a ton of fun with my car, no one really looked down at it. Everyone else (who was cool) had trucks but I would take my festiva places they wouldn't dare take their trucks. I would get a couple people sitting on my hood and pull them out of the ditch/field and they would pull me out. We used to have contests in the winter to see who could drive the furthest into the snow filled ditch and still make it back out. There were a few 4x4s that I went further than. Happened once a few guys decided a trail was too muddy and i threw my chains on and drove a ways down it just to prove a point... I would race them in the summer and not do too bad (against pickups neons and grand-am's). They would see me hauling trailers and so on. 11yrs later im still driving it at 470k and not a single one of them still has their original vehicle.

Long story short my festiva got respect but that's taken its toll. floorboards are all pushed up, missing around 5L capacity in the fuel tank, exhaust and frame rails nearly flat, had it on 2 wheels twice... But its the most fun you can have in a car I think.

Yours looks really clean still so don't do anything crazy with it, but don't feel ashamed to drive one, lol. And don't feel scared to try crazy stuff with it either, its just a car and festivas will do a lot. ill be pulling an 1800 pound trailer across the country with my new one this summer, the old one was my wedding car, did a road trip honeymoon in it, raced at the track, beat a camaro one time, towed a boat, got stuck in a lake, drove through snow deeper than my headlights with the chains, flat towed a car twice its weight 50km, had 700 pounds of sheep wool in the back, pulled a dodge 250 with a 20ft gooseneck stock trailer out of a snowbank (biggest thing i ever pulled), done 175kmh down a hill... and its gotten me to work/school and back without fail (cept twice) for almost 11yrs. so much you can do in these things!

It was great to read your story and see the photos, thanks for posting!

Thanks!! I forgot to write a paragraph on what i have done with my car. So ill tell you that i have taken my car into the Australian bush. Its been on 3 beaches, it sees mud trails atleast a month. Ive taken it racing once (it scared me) it goes on dirt roads for miles. I treat it like a 4wd i have pictures of it dirty and dusty. I prefer seeing it all dirty but my father doesn't haha

That really is a nice looking Festiva. In the states we never got that green color.

That's what I thought but Australia may have had a different colour palette than we did.

Hazz, if you ever run across a set of KB Laser twin carbies, they will fit with a one inch adapter.
They will help you along in your races. Ask ne how I know.

Ford put this color on a few of their cars here in australia. My grandparents have EB Ford Falcon in the same color as me
