No longer an Orphan!
1988 Carbie Car, unknown if mileage is correct on Odometer.
On August 15th, I bought this car from long time member Sam1956. He sold all his Festiva related stuff at the same time for $600. A bargain too good to pass up and I will be forever grateful. She attended the first Festiva Madness that Sam helped put together. Lot of history in this little car
I bought the car to save it. I planned on selling it to someone in the community but I never had the heart to do it, so I tagged it last week and have to make some plans for her. She will be my "cream puff" to drive around occasionally, and with the wife. I think I will eventually build a first gen B6 with a weber swap for her, using the B6 I got from Tex Law that was the first B6 my friend SkeetersKeeper put in his car Skeeter. Definitely will add AC.
Sam put a Ford Focus bumper on the front of it that gives it a very unique look and my wife loves it. So I might go full wide body. In his stuff was a set of wheel flares from a VW. Might try to use those, and a wider rear bumper. Try to go with a red on black Theme that is already happening on and in it. Maybe change the white stripes for black ETC.
First order of business was to get decent for driving rubber under her. The rims had dry rotted tires. I am about to order a new set for her. The old set of 185s were WAY too wide and needed 3 spacers in the rear, plus 2 in the fronts to fit.
Interior needs some bleaching since there is a little mildew, and carpet is sun bleached out, needs dying.
Bumper has a couple cracks from being squeezed on.
Needs some paint to fix cracked and peeling clear coat.
Stripes are cracked. Wheels need some love.
