  • Auto-X - Frackville Mall - NEPA

The NEPA SCCA held it's 10th (and final) race today... It was at the Frackville Mall, outside of St. Clair, PA. The weather turned out to be GREAT, which was pleasing.

The turnout was great! I believe they said almost 80 total people. Each racer got to run 2 heats, at 3 laps per heat.

I did a LOT better than last time... My previous Auto-X attempt was 6 runs, with 4 DNF's... I had no DNF's this time. I even improved my times each run, except for the last 2. My friend Spencer (blue Cavi) rode with in my 2nd heat, the first run... I got a 37.xxx (can't remember) and the next were low 38's. I think I was just showing off for him to get through the track.

Anyways... onto the pics! These are a few of the highlights... the rest can be found here...

I really need to tighten the body up a bit...

So I'm taking suggestions from anyone that has them...

Front strut bar from FMS help? I ran one on the last car for looks (mainly). Roll bar/cage in the rear to help stiffen that up? Has anyone adapted some sway bars to help?

Slicks will be in the future...

I really like your headrests and the rain deflectors they are small changes that add alot to the car.

Thanks Duritz... The deflectors were available on the FS fourm... Someone paired with Burgess and ordered sets from overseas. They were a nice addition, I like them.

As for the seats - they're 323 GTX seats welded in... A set of racing seats will go in sometime, the GTX seats don't hold ANYTHING while ripping across the track.

Kyle - that's perfect! I'm actually thinking of pulling out those seat brackets in the back though, so your bar wouldn't work too well for me. I could get something welded to the strut towers I guess instead and that would probably work just as well...

I like the seat too... I know that at some point I'm going to rip out these darned 323GTX seats just because they don't support anything when I'm going across the track. My generic racing seats in all my other cars held better than these things do.

Thanks for the ideas though! You and quaddawg are my inspiration.

I was the 2nd fastest in my class (out of 4 total... lol) But pretty far down the list of everyone. There were some crazy people there running 31's... So I know that I've got a lot of work to do yet until I'm there...
