  • True D Mod Festiva Autocross car?? Should I??

OK, my mind is racing here.

I found my Daily Driver, with the 53K 89 Festy.. SO...

I don't need to drive my blue car on the street anymore.

It has some rust, and my red car doesn't....

Here is what I am thinking:

    Fiberglass hood
    Fiberglass, or NO rear hatch
    Lose the dash
    Lose the bumpers
    Roll bar
    Body stiffening
    Lose ALL the glass
    Upgrade the suspension
BUILD the B6, or chuck in a BP/G25m-r
and maybe... just maybe cut the whole damned top off...

whaddya think? a TRUE D Modified Festiva in autocross???
Have had 6 Festys... and counting...

Do all of that except cut the top off. If you are hammer down in a bp festiva and pushing it to the limits and it flips well....

Kabbage had a full cage for Festiva near Detroit for like $50.

I wanted to roll cage it anyway, so cutting the top off isn't a big deal... just have to figure out how to do the rear hatch... thought of cutting it in half, and welding the bottom half to the back of the body...

I am going to do at least SOME of this.

I have to find a Trans first though...

          I NEED A 4 SPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            do it!!!!

            please cut off the roof!!!

do it do it!! i was planning to do that with my festarossa but never got around do it,

take out the space saver wheel storage thing,

and swap a b6 with headers and intake.. thats all you would need to put a lotus elise in its place

Umm a B6 SOHC will NOT put a Lotus Elise in it's place in a straight line and to keep up in corners you would need a ton of chassis strengthening after cutting the roof off. And btw Quad already has a very healthy B6 SOHC in there. I would say to keep the roof but replace all the windows with lexan or the like (lightweight) that would probably save anywhere from 150-250lbs I would say... Glass is heavy and you would be saving the weight in the right place lowering your center of gravity aka def. helping your cornering ability/stability. I'd say go for it Quad!!! -Kyle

^ because he is only autocrossing the car. Should be cheaper too since it's less desirable.

its what i did, its the funnest car
once you loose the bumpers lights corners and glass its a whole new car,

i want someone to get some machine work done to a b6 up the compression and run methanol

that would probably take outright wins at autocrosses with the right suspension/tire/driver
