New Helmet

Woohoo! I got me a new helmet for autocrossing this year. I picked up a cheapy one at Walmart last year and was able to use it on the first race, but the tech inspection wouldn't pass it for 2nd event. They said it needed to be Snell approved, and mine was Zephyr approved (I have no idea what the real difference between them is).

Anyways. I grabbed one off EBay for $75 shipped. It's a THH TS-40 helmet. Looks a lot like the Bell one I used from Walmart. Fits great, actually feels a little lighter than the other one I had, much more comfortable too!

I'm going to get some decals for my website for the side of it and I want to pickup a smoked shield for sunny race days.

First event is on 4/13 in Hershey... I'm stoked!

Err... First event is 4/12... It's actually a multi-day event and I'm going to go to the one on the 12th and hopefully still make it on the 13th with Casper (unless I blow something up, hehe)...

I'll be at the DJ meet fo sho...

Well... The Bell helmet that I picked up last year (Zephyr approved) was almost $90... And I can't even use the darn thing! I like this one a lot better...

Are you running street tires, or slicks like quaddawg?

Darn, that's cheap.. most of the guys here use $500-1000 helmets... too rich for my blood... LOL... I'll stick with my cheapie too...

I'm running normal street tires. Not sure what I'll run this year since money is tight right now. I have Toyo's on my 15's and all 4 pretty much need to be replaced... Or I've got my 14" Miata wheels with a set of Falkens on them that are all still pretty new.

And I agree quad... The helmet that I've got will do just fine for what I need it to do.

It's all about Shoei. Best helmets ever. And the only one I'd trust doin 100 mph around a track

My helmet is pretty much autoX only... I won't see 100 mph around an autoX track...
