  • Festy AutoCross Pics

Just a couple of pics from our latest AutoX at Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos, Texas.

These are from 2 different runs coming down the hill. It is a blind right hander leading
to about a 30 ft elevation drop into a hard left, what a blast.

you can check out the rest of the pics here:

Nothing says "triumph of enthusiasm over physics" like a Front Wheel Drive race car.

Looks like a really fast course, any video from it? That would be a blast! I love the VW with the dog driving.

In my first pic the guy in my passenger seat is Rich, driver of the flying Vdub. 200+ Lbs of Ballast leaning towards the inside of every turn. His 6'5" self was pleased the Festiva offers a lot of headroom.

Gforced - Link to drivers view video shot from a Spitfire, there are a few more on Youtube as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPEdKJbjc8k

Speeds were high I crossed the timing lights at over 70 mph.

FTD was Eric Strielinks National Champion SM2 Rx7 R1 with an 80.237 crossing the lights at over 90 mph. It is one of the most Ungodly Awesome Creations you will ever see, so incredible it is almost disgusting. At full bore you would think a jet liner was taking off.

Why won't the forum let me use d-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g??? Face above.

Quaddawg - 80 entrant total, there was an entry cap. One of the clubs members only events. There are a few each year at special locations, unfortunately this appears to be a one time only venue. Overall I didn't do that well something like 54 of 80. My last and only clean run was 99.079 secs, my best was a 95.~~~ with 4 cones. I hit a lot of cones that day, everyone did but I was high in the runnings for most in one run. 95 clean would have put me around 45th. A lack of power on the long course and getting used to the new suspension
setup cost me, I am usually pretty far into the top 50%.

I'm 6'11" 245 and I still fit quite well in a Festiva Me and Quaddawg basically prove that ANYONE can fit in a Festiva, no excuses. Goes to show how incredible little cars are. I don't own one yet, this is just testing the Junkyard cars.

Heh-heh.. NICE! (looks like it's time for some stiffer suspension!)

                        Keep up the good work.
