  • Dyno Day '09

Well I've been wondering what #s my festiva makes. As many of you know, my car is a b8 sohc, 16 valve, no cat, mitsubishi eclipse turbo (rear mount) 12:1 fmu. Extra fuel pump, and that's about it. So today a local shop was having a dyno day. I had to be a little sneaky, because I had broken my transmission this week, and wanted to dyno it so bad. I talked to the guy, and told him i didn't know what was wrong with the trans, and to just skip third while getting the drums rolling. He did. There was a few nice cars there too. I filmed it so you guys could see it in action.

Final #s= 154hp/169 ft. lbs. on 10 lbs. of boost.

    Enjoy

And some other rides, the nissan had a 400 shot of nitrous and a chevy big block.

I remember when a good friend of mine owned a dyno shop, he had a Dynojet dyno and the company that makes Mustang dyno's like the one your car is on is right by my house. Well he had a friend that was opening a shop in Detroit that was in town and checking into getting a Mustang dyno so he asked me to bring my car up to run on the Mustang dyno as a comparision. The Dynojet is considered the industry standard (or atleast was back then). We had talked to Jim Bell the owner of Kenne Bell supercharger's and he was saying that generally cars on Mustang dyno's show approx 40 less wheel HP on a Mustang dyno. We ran my car and it was 38 RWHP less then the Dynojet, which we went to his shop and double checked. So its quite possible that your numbers as good as they are are actually better then that yet!!

^ i've heard the same thing. My expectations were 150 hp. So I'm happy, now it's time to start the bp swap. I'm surprized my tranny didn't come apart. It was making crazy cruchy noises, but by the time i got there i guess the teeth were chewed up enough to be quiet. I'm gonna do a stock bp/g25mr on 10 lbs. And I'll post that up too.

And thanks to RJ for letting me dyno his motor while it is still in my car. LoL

Greg, so now my dilemma is....sell Casper and start from scratch with another car for a BP turbo, or do it to Casper. It would be nice to have as clean a car as your red one. And heat. Gotta sell one or two of my cars to raise bux for a project (or two (or three)).
