Slicks on a festiva.

Going to be drag racing a festiva not every once in a while its going to be a drag car i have looked online for some new wheels and slicks i want to get some insight on if these will fit there 13" and have the right bolt pattern i know there for circle track but eh i am sure they will go down the strip too also anyone know where you can get stock styled flared front fenders in an attempt to not make this thing look like a clown car

oh and as far as the aspire brake swap i am not going to be using it as that idk if there are any aspires in the jy and if all else fails i will toss a chute on the car.

One of his other posts stated his civic ran 10's, and he's planning to use that same engine in his festiva :shock:


Keep in mind, if you plan to upgade the brakes to the aspire brakes (much, much better braking), that will change the bolt pattern to 4x100, the same as a civic, meaning if you still have the slicks from your civic you could re-use them, rims and all, on a festiva

well based on hp and weight and now that i have some ideas how to make the front suspension hook up on a festiva hopefully mid to low 10s. I am hoping that once i get the car ironed out and it goes straight and all that stuff might have to get her licensed as of this point my hardest thing on my plate is axles. I called an axle shop today and since i am 100% positive a festy is narrower than a civic i am going to get civic axles resplined for festiva outers for 140/pr or get brand new one off 4340 chromolly steel axles for 450/pr i guess i will get civic ones more resplined and see how long they last.

i guess i will just have to upgrade the fronts then. The rears I dont really care about and i am going to run skinnys anywho. I do have a friend who can machine me some brackets for mounting civic calipers on festiva hubs but I want to keep weight as low as possible on this car.

so festiva brakes just suck plain and simple. not even with a pad swap? they only need to stop once every hour. I have 1/4 mile to slow down from the first 1/4 mile. I just figured they were better than expected I have ran some pretty small brakes on drag cars and been ok. I guess i will have to look in the jy its just the 4x114 wheels are much cheaper than 4x100 and the slicks i have pry wont fit because there 10" wide. plus one of the rims is pretty bashed when the car hit the wall

The festiva brakes will work, they suck but they'll do, to change a festiva rotor you need to take the hub out of the spindle cause the rotor bolts from the back side, it's a stupid design, the aspire rotors bolt from the outside, much nicer to work with, the festiva rotors are solid where the aspire rotors are vented

solid rotors are actually much better for drag racing as they have less tendancy to warp run after run. and even if they last one weekend and I have to replace them big deal. I also have a pretty sweet swaybar well not really sway bar setup for the front suspension of these little cars based on a tried and true design of honda traction bars. Involving welding solid bushings where the factory bar goes through then running a long bolt through with a bracket and a heim joint and solid rods to a cross member bolted to the framerails that wont allow the front suspension to flex forward when the car launches.



Some thing along these lines to completely eliminate that wacky swaybar stabilizer bar setup

this is how they mount on a civic but use your imagination and see how they would fit on a festiva

this would be 100% better than running a swaybar and soft rubber bushings

Hmm thats sure neat looking, but how would that effect it for handling?

would pry make it wayy better esp for a v6 car because the wheels would be on a set path and would not be allowed to go forward and back messing up the caster when around turns. running a setup like this also gives me a great spot to run limiter straps so when i lauch i will come to 0 camber and stay there. I am telling you guys I am confident I will have the worlds fastest fwd festiva just to show up all these civics. I know its going to be powerd by a honda motor but never the less once the chassis work gets all setup and it goes straight and fast whose to say a really nasty bp cant be dropped in and run similar times. I would love to see a festiva hang with some of these cars in the 1320

but due to much less weight it would need much less power.

If I pull it off all of you get tickets to every event I will be at. Most will be southern WI but others will be all around the country
