Ha ha, we used to do the same thing in hay fields driving one of the old, old Honda Civics, and later in a couple of Fiestas. Those were the days....Originally posted by bravekozak View PostI love ice racing.Speaking of ice, I used to go out on lake Simcoe with my old Nova, take it up to about 80 and crank the wheel, slam the brakes and count how many 360s we could do. It is relatively safe, of course my Aspire is relatively dinged up from it, but it's not meant to be my dailer driver any longer. What happens when the cars touch is basicly they slide away without the kind of severe damage you'd get from dirt or other hard traction surfaces like concrete etc. The worst hit you see is if someone gets stuck in a snowbank and then someone slams into them because they became stationary! When I got hit in that vid where the guy loses his mirror...that was actually a buddy of mine. It was a little dirty of him because he knew I had him beat and you can hear from his engine he never did back off going into me, he knew he wouldn't stuff it in that snow bank, because he knew he would be pushing me in instead! Later when we talked, we were both actually shocked I came out of that bank...I have to credit my bash pan for keeping me from digging in and coming to a stop:-) You saw how much energy I lost going in and back out. Then when I passed him later he knew he had to behave or risk really looking like a maniac.Originally posted by neanderpaul View PostThis is way cool! Thanks for sharing! It looks so challenging and intense. But it seems relatively safe.
It is just like the man said: "twisted metal is the calling card of the racer!"Last edited by iceracerdude; 02-05-2011, 10:37 PM.

Id like to get a couple of sets of pure snow/ice tires. Do you know where I can get some in 13"s ? Saw the tire rack video below on the difference between all season and pure winter tires.Originally posted by iceracerdude View PostIn the vid's I'm using my Nokkian Hakkapelita RSI's, but I prefer Bridgestone Blizzaks particularly the WS-50's (not made anymore) Or the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-70.
I cannot begin to tell you how much of a difference these tires make on snow and ice.
I will tell you however "all season radials" is one of the biggest crimes perpetrated on society.

go on e-bay and look up the commercial seller "foxtire", he for some reason, has had a very large stash of "new old stock" blizzaks. My advice would be to contact him first for 13" availability, but really consider moving up to 14" rims for future tire aqusitions anyway.
You will want spare rims anyway, you don't want to keep paying for remounting and rebalancing right?
Go to this site as well, and then remember to make it a favorite: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
I find it pretty helpful when making tire size choices.Last edited by iceracerdude; 02-06-2011, 09:03 AM.
