My fuel pressure is set to 70PSI...I already have a set of 440cc Injectors, but seeing my wideband gauge....Im still not going lean, I decided to have the car dynoed...and postpone changing my Injectors.

My first roll....made only 234WHP....since my AFR is around 10.5:1....and then leaned it out a little...to 11-11.5:1.....power went up to 248WHP

I believe you have a bigger engine.....mine is only 1500cc and the head is not as good flowing than other Mazda B/Z series of engines.

Yup...someone also recommended to me to use a better flowing B6 DOHC head instead of the Z5 head, but I just wanted this turbo project to run the highest boost it can take on an all stock internals, pure Z5 engine. Just want to test what this engine can do. Its ok for me if the Z5 engine gets blown.

Megasquirt is good i think, assembled this MS1 V2.2 last year 2005(no other versions as of this year)...but i was only able to use it last year 2007 or 2008 i think....since im so busy with customers engine transplants. Surely newer versions of the MS are better

Yup, im aware of that hehehe...I was about to post that with the excepetion with the BJ engine. I had a BJ engine before and installed it in one of my customers. Basically the same as the Miata B6 engine, with the excepetion to its short stroke. Just changed its block and still used the BJ high compression dome pistons. The cylinder head is the exact Miata B6 head, with the exception to the intake or exhaust valves...cant remember anymore which side.

The Z5 has the smallest intake and exhaust ports...same round ports for the intake and exhaust ports. Unlike any other Mazda 4 cylinder engines...all the BJ, B5, B6, ZL-VE, ZM, BP all have well breathing oval shaped intake and exhaust ports.

Im not referring entirely on displacement...I think the Z5 is still the smallest of all Mazda DOHC in the Z and B series line up...since it has the smallest Bore of 75.5mm and of the smallest intake and exhaust valves....smallest intake and exhaust ports. But yes, smallest displacement is for the BJ engine.

and if you took a B3 dohc block and installed the B5 crank, you'd have a B1 dohc engine!

    started a topic Z5 Turbo = 25PSI = 248WHP

    Z5 Turbo = 25PSI = 248WHP

    MAZDA Z5 DOHC 16-valve engine...stock engine internals

    Turbo T3T4 Garrett China copy
    25PSI Boost
    TIAL External Wastegate China copy
    HKS SSQV China copy
Apexi-I Japan surplus front mount Intercooler
Revv limiter raised from 6,500RPM stock(factory ECU to 7,500RPM)
    MS1 V2.2 Engine Management
    WALBRO 255LPH Genuine
    360cc Injectors
Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator China made

I built this engine project to know the potential of the Z5 DOHC engine...Mazda's smallest DOHC engine. The project set up is for drag racing purposes

Dynojet Dyno = 248 Wheel Horse Power

Dyno again soon....after some headworks, and Intake manifold fabrication, and after tweaking more of the Ignition timing.

    Ill post the videos later...
Working...
