I'm shocked the motor hasn't blown yet on 25PSI... even with the tiniest of turbos, I never would have expected this! I truly believe that the supply of B6T's in junkyards will start to increase if that motor manages to stay alive for a while. Those Z5's are a dime a dozen in my neck of the woods!

Again, very nice :thumbright: once you make it to the track, please post time slips of what it runs

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I dont know what head your talking about but the miata head/ protege z5 head are completley different ...? I have pics on my thread showing the differences? Which year of protege z5 is it?

Also what trans are you using? how has it held up to the flat shifting?
              Thanks...

Yes the Miata B6 head and the Z5 head are completely different...a direct swap to a Z5 block is the B6 DOHC head from the Protege. The Miata B6 head and the Protege B6 head are two different B6 DOHC cylinder heads.....the one that will directly bolt on to a Z5 block without oil return passage issues(no modifications needed) is the B6 head from the Protege.

              I think its from a 98 Protege....

Im using the Mazda G-series that came from a BP engine from a Protege 98....hydraulic clutch type. So far the G-series holds good

                  Full boost at 5000RPM.

Too much turbo lag, but its ok since my Z5 turbo is used only for Drag racing during week ends hehe...

Again....at 1st gear the max boost I can only get is 13PSI....and needs flat shifting to have consistent 25PSI to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears.

Do you think it's the head's weak flow abilities that is restricting your boost? I suppose it's not a bad thing though to have that much power higher up in the spectrum... might extend the lifespan of your engine a little bit to have boost lag as a launch control system haha!

that is a very sweet setup, now you just need a rear wiper down position gear (i got one, free if you pay shipping)

I totally agree!! Any chance of putting a smaller hot side on the turbo to help it spool at a lower rpm?

Is this megasquirt? You can play with spark timing move cam timing with gears, and try a lean spool at lower rpm to get a few hundred RPM'S back. Still really nice numbers for something a liter smaller than other cars I own. What do you feel is holding you back, just the head or the turbo components?

1.5L with a big turbo, turbo lag is going to happen , i hit full boost on mine at 2500 rpm but thats because i have a tiny little b6T turbo
