  • 12.53 in the 1/4 mile and this is what happens?

So 2 weeks ago I ran 5, 12 second passes and my car has developed a shake under acceleration. So I started looking around. This is what I found. My stock b3 front mount held up. My homemade front and rear transmission mounts held up but stock festiva parts failed me.

    Here's the passes

    rear turbo festiva. 15 lbs of boost 4-1-12, bithlo 90 degree day, 20 x 8x 14 slicks

    1.8 dohc, Junkyard motor on 15 lbs. 20x8x14 slicks. 12.6 bithlo 4-1-12

And this is the damage from all the hard launches on slicks. Not too bad. It'll be easy to sandwich it and make it stronger but it did fail. I had added washers to spread the load but it ripped the crossmember...

yeah, but that's a lot of engineering skyrocketing on 2 inches of old steel. I'm not surprised and glad to see that's the one weak point so far. next will be in the LCA's to body joints, most likely?

Most street cars have issues when you launch hard on slicks. Especially when your layin down 3X the stock power. Nice runs BTW.

do you think the rust played more of a factor than torque and slicks?

Its not really rusty. It still has oil from the old leaky b3. I bet it has been cracked and just got worse. I plan on better stronger and faster with luxuries of course lol

The BP in my EGT had four motor mounts. We use three. The fourth one on the EGT looks like a major player IMO. Of course there is no where for us to use the fourth mount but I bet it would take a lot of pressure off of the others. We toss the fourth one out. Not sure the festiva cross membe points are to blame. Load up the power and take away the support....just saying..the rarely mentioned mount below
