  • Autox'ing for the 1st time this weekend.

The local fairgrounds are holding their bi-annual autox event this coming weekend. I'll be giving it a shot for my first time ever. There's a local guy with a miata that does these things almost every weekend, that I have been rib jabbing pretty hard lately. I've been messing with him about how miatas suck(I own a miata too lol), and that I could easily beat him in my Festiva. So he got all riled up and is like "No way bro, my miata is built for Autox. No way in hell you'll keep up...". I personally don't expect to do anything spectacular or roll out and lay down the FTD lol. I really don't even expect to beat his miata. But it should be fun none the less. I told him if I do run a faster time he has to reimburse my entry fee. :p

I'll be sure to post pics, vids, and the results.

Have a great time! That's what it's all about. Festivas are just FWD Miatas anyway...

I'm really curious to se how the Festiva does against the competition. The car feels very responsive, but I haven't pushed it to its limit in a corner with my current setup. I have manymany times when it was completely stock, or just springs lol.

I've done roadcourses in my miata, and wrx's. As well as drift events, but never once had a chance to give auto-x a try.

The FWD will react quite a bit differently in the sharp curves. I suggest braking with your left foot, and letting the oversteer pull you out of the corners. Also, pics!

Well like I said earlier...I tried my hand at autox for the first time ever tonight. Came home with the 1st place novice trophy, and there was a 5sec gap between me and 2nd place. My Pax time put me in 5th over all classes I think, still not sure how that stuff works yet, but my raw time was only 2sec off the fastest time of the day, which was a 40k dollar full out s2000 race car....all in all I call it a win for the Fastiva's first debut lol.

And I absolutely skulldrug my super rival miata buddy by over 5 seconds

          I love this car!!!!

Going to get a set of stickies, and see abot that FTD...

Nope he played it off like he was joking the whole time, then the excuses came...lol. I don't mind at all, the fact that I destroyed him at his own game, in a Festiva at that, is priceless.

I've been dying to autox my car. But I guess since the engine is swapped they want all kinds of safety equipment yadda yadda. They should just have a street car event and if you drive in you pass spec. Hopefully one day I will get around to doing it. Im sure it's a blast.

I couldn't agree more. There should be a Novice class, A Street Class, and an Anything goes class. The PAX handicap point system is so confusing and over the top lol.

This was a night event, In car vids didn't work at all, and I may have some trackside video, I'll ask around.

One of the best feelings ever! And another part that had me craking up was the fact that the first time I lined up, you could hear the whole place dying in laughter, and then I made a pass and my time popped up, and all you heard was Whoooooooooooooo!!!!!! from the crowd lol. Then nothing but cheering the next time I lined up

Everyone loved the car! Even the ones that weren't too sure about it when I pulled up to register eventually came around lol.
