When did you live out here JT? and when are you coming back for a visit? The pavilions are just as crazy as ever, especially when the auctions are in town. If anyone wants to come out for Barrett Jackson, just let me know. I usually get free tickets. Gotta see that in person at least once.
Oh, and so we get back on topic here, Phoenix has a huge legally challenged drag racing scene. I used to get paid to watch it every saturday night (I was a 3rd shift security guard at a building right by the finish line of the #1 spot in Phoenix all through college, talk about job perks!). When they would raid the drags, accident rates would skyrocket on the city streets on saturday night. They never seemed to report that, but I had a scanner in my security van so I kept track and it was a substantial increase. See, at the drags it was 2 at a time in front of sometimes a 500 or so spectators. The road was shut off from traffic and it was run pretty well. The city streets allowed the same throttle junky kids (and not so kids) to race hundreds at a time all over town (Bell Rd is a hot spot) with no traffic control and lots of variables. I never once saw anyone get hurt at the illegals, though there were a couple of mishaps and several gnarly bike wrecks. But, the city did let it go on for a long time. They knew it was happening, and they usually just raided it when the crowds were getting out of control. Those were good times, but I haven't been in years. Have no desire to bring Tweak up there, it was always a good place to get your car cased too. Didn't have to worry about the security van getting stolen, lol.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

I'm walking away from a VERY high powered lunch, and the heir to the throne son of the owner of the company I work for (The largest Freightliner dealer in the US) says to me: "Hey, I ought to get a Festiva"... I looked at him, and said "Well if you paid me more, it'd be faster than what you are driving". We talked about my goal of having a 200hp Festiva at some point. Well we pulled out of the restaurant parking lot, and sure enough we get a red light together. I look over, and he's doing a wheels turning motion and starts nudging up on the line. I did my best, and had a pretty smoky single tire fire, but ultimately got SMOKED by his BMW X5M. Who'd have thought that I'd get so handed to me by a mere 555hp Twin Turbo 4.4l V8... I demand a rematch!

X5 is a twin tubo 300hp nice ride. The X5 M is a Twin turbo 555hp, 3.9second 0-60, 12.3 stock quarter mile time monster.
It'd take a VERY dialed in Festiva to beat a stock X5M

Street races
At 5psi I highly doubt I have 300hp, maybe 250ish but I'd still try racing the guy :evil4:
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
