This is my white Pride's aka Ernstkia's very first slalom race event joined. Showing in the vid is my first run or hit getting a 54 seconds finish. Way to go laddy! Slaloms are great in that there are never any car to car crashes. And you can 'run what ya brung' and drive it back home again, crash-free.
Start rehearsing your handbrake turns and keep practicing to get closer to the pylons. Anything you can to make a course as straight (ie short) as possible. The guys that are really good at it never do smoke shows, hammer on the brakes, appear to be going too fast, or do anything rash, and yet their times are always a surprise to the energetic rookies that burn up their tires on every run.
I was always trying to figure out a way to activate rear brakes only without a hand having to leave the wheel. Those 180s and 360s are beautiful time savers if you can figure out a way to have the nose of the car almost glue itself to the pylon while working your way around it.
I'm guessing you weren't running in the same class as the first driver. Removing the doors sheds a couple of hundred pounds and I'll bet there wasn't a heck of a lot else in that car either except a seat, driver and hopped-up motor.
