If you brake late and apex early then that festiva will hug the inside and allow you to get on the gas earlier and drift under throttle out of the corners. I know this will feel strange, but trust me.the festiva is capable of holding lines that will toss other cars into the tire wall. Ease yourself into this style and don't look back! ( my rearview mirror always twists around too, so I know what you're dealing with, lol)
    My mirror does that too!

As far as early apex, I agree. In my recent hooning with the aspire swap, and even on stock suspension for 20 years, that has been something the car seems to want to do, just DIVE into the curve, and run in the rough, coming out under power feels so cool though!

I can't wait to build me a turbo car

I really need to work on my rear shock setup to help get more weight transfer on the front tires.

Later sessions I was in second gear rather than third and I was experiencing inside tire spin when accelerating out of a turn.
You may be able to hang third if you brake less and turn in earlier. It takes some getting used to, especially if your used to rear drive. Often times, I'll barely use my brakes and I'll just downshift and let the clutch out as I turn in. The theory behind early apexing a short and light FWD is to reduce the pendulum effect on the rear of the car. The pendulum or inertial weight transfer to the rear can be helpful on a RWD car, but (as you have discovered) it will seriously inhibit acceleration on FWD. By getting the majority of the corner turned early (trail brake to pivot) then you reduce this weight transfer. This early apex will also scrub speed, which allows even later braking than a late or neutral apex. This technique also works with RWD and AWD (especially older audi Quattro vehicles) but it can be a bit tricky. Festivas seem to love this driving style. This also will allow you to set your suspension up softer, with less anti roll, which allows you to really attack the curbing. This can be like cheating, because chicanes now become straight stretches. I've passed more than my fair share of high HP exotics with two wheels in the dirt. Keep these vids coming! The more Festivas that are out on the race track, the less there will be in the crusher. If the world only knew of this cars potential then none of them would reach the salvage yards.

Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.
