  • my festiva's first 1/4 mile run

Hey all, I drive a stock 1991 1.3L carbed WA Ford Festiva and went down to the drags on wednesday and did five runs as followed:

    elapsed time: 19.180
    Terminal speed: 67.87 mph

for camera phone footage of the drag
(warning: you might want to turn down your volume first)
    Funny as though!!!

    elapsed time: 19.184
    terminal speed: 68.91 mph

Next were Pro Tree runs (where all the oranges flash at once instead of the gap between each)

    elapsed time: 19.234
    Terminal speed: 68.91 mph

    elapsed time: 19.247
    Terminal speed: 67.97mph

    and my best run:

    elapsed time: 19.098
    Terminal speed: 69.33mph

I didnt take out the back seats or anything and as i said, its a fully stock 1991 WA model Ford Festiva.

    Are they good times?

    almost into the 18's.....

I have the B6 swapped into my car with the original B3 ecu, and walked on a 87 supra n/t in third gear.....dragtimes.com listed one at 16.7 in the 1/4 mile.

Great times though i always wanted to know what a stocker ran.

OIC, i looked to see if he was from over-seas but didn't say...

for a carbd car that still seems real good to me; i thought a stock FI ran 19-20, and the carbds usually run a bit less...

Im getting a well needed wheel alignment tomorrow and two new tires for the back wheels because i was running on a 20psi back tire last wed because of a nail- which was also fairly bald. Hoping to do high 18's tomorrow night.

last wed, i was running 33psi in the front and back left, and 20psi on the back right.

Was reading through some of the posts and yous are running on 18-22psi
I take it thats optimum tire pressure????

                      Carbed?

I NEVER ran over 19.5 seconds in my completely stock '88 Festiva L's. I ran them MANY times, and had a best of 18.4 completely stock. No back seat out (actually if I'm not mistaken I had a huge box with 2 12" subs), stock tires, stock rims, stock everything. And I have a higher elevation track...

I had half a tank of fuel, took out the spare tire, jack and custom parcel shelf with speakers and cleaned out the car completely.

Would take out the back seats if i knew how too.

Mines completely stock too, nothing done to it at all, not even a cold air intake.

Iv never done over 19.5 either, i generally get 19.050 - 19.200, but last night i was taken it just over the red line, where as normally i would take it to red line then shift.

Also worked out what revs to have it on to prevent wheel spin and get a good launch which is 1500 rpm (for me anyways)

I would post the time slips on here but i don't know how
